Pics from the walkers
Re: Pics from the walkers
Since my op I’ve been steadily increasing my walking distances and am now regularly walking 5 miles or so. Not huge distances by any means but certainly a world away from where I was a couple of years back (half a mile was beyond me then).
My aim for this year was to walk between the two peaks and back again, a distance of 5 1/2 miles or so. I did this a couple of weeks ago, when I had a week off work. I thoroughly enjoyed it, almost as much as I enjoyed the pint in the Cheshire Cheese pub in Hope afterwards.

@Murphy20
That's a great achievement and I'm sure that pint tasted good.
What's your next challenge?

It did, Guy!
Oh that’s me for now. When I spoke with the surgeon pre-op I said that I just wanted to get back to walking a couple of miles at a time. I’ve far exceeded my expectations so that’ll do for me.

Lovely summer day at last. 6 miles around the local byways with good friends, ending up in the pub of course!

A short hike today, a few miles away from the farm
with a couple scenic overlooks
My wife was making me a bit jealous, pointing out all the fun guys along the way...

Pleasant day in the Bournemouth area, possibly the last pleasant day we'll get. We took the chain ferry from Sandbanks, and went to Corfe Castle and then Swanage

Re: Pics from the walkers
A few from a recent week in Killin, near loch Tay.
Taken at the Ben Lawers nature reserve…
The first two during a short walk on the Edramucky nature trail, part of which runs along a stream. The trail includes various rare plant species. To reduce erosion part of the trail is out only, taking a different route on the way back. In addition those walking the Munros shouldn’t use the trail at all. Later in the week we returned during better weather to climb a couple of Munros, Beinn Ghlas and Ben Lawers.
Beinn Ghlas is the summit to the right of the pic. At this point Ben Lawers which is higher isn’t visible. From the summit of Beinn Ghlas, which at 1,103 metres is far higher than England’s highest mountain of Scafell Pike. Ben Lawers is now in view along the ridge, which annoyingly involves a down, before the up to the summit. From the summit of Ben Lawers at 1,214 metres. The 2nd and 3rd pic in this group of 4 were taken 5 minutes apart, indicating just how quickly the mist can swirl in and then subsequently clear. Neil

Re: Pics from the walkers
@nbg Great to see these. When I lived in Pitlochry in the 1980s Ben Lawers was one of the “local” Munros, along with Schiehallion and Beinn a’Ghlò. I did them all a few times.

Seeing your pictures while I was in Bournemouth, I'm sure you had far better weather than we managed. 2 reasonable days then Solid rain until the last day, pretty much. I thought you previous pictures were in the lakes, but I think they must have been Scotland as well.

Hi David, my previous post back in June was in Greece. The ones prior to that were a week or so earlier in the Lake District.JAFO wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2024 6:12 pm @nbg
