Left a tedious workplace an hour early to get some exercise in. The walk up a very boggy lane is worthwhile for the view across the vale. Ghetto AT today.

A couple of pics taken on a swift circuit of The Boating Lake in Regents Park, London today, whilst waiting for a lady on a Hospital appointment at UCH, Euston Road on a Community Transport run.

We're on the Isle of Wight this week. We happened across the needles today. The lighthouse is about 30 meters tall, roughly the same as the one in Southwold. :D

Worth seeing, but only just worth going to see, as Dr Johnson very nearly said. :D

The picture is from the National Trust Low Battery, which must give the best land based viewpoint.

Yesterday wasn’t the best start to our holiday. We’d loaded up the car and were due to set off in 10 minutes when the agent called to say our cottage we had booked months ago was cancelled.

Thankfully we were able to book another place only a couple of miles away and as compensation we have a much nicer place for the same price we’d already paid. The agent stood the difference.

This means our plans have been kept, our Sunday pub lunch booking is still on and I was able to do my pre planned walk from what is now the next village along, but should have been where we were staying.

9.8 miles in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside. I’ve earned that pint and a roast dinner.

@nbg We are now in a place called Hulme end, about 1.5 miles from Hartington where we should have been staying.

Enjoy your holiday, Iain & family.

It sounds like the owners of the property you'd originally booked have, inadvertently, done you a favour.

One of my regular walking routes, when at home, is around our local pond. Earlier this week I noticed that, when out of the water, the mallard ducks were primarily sat in groups of three. Two drakes and a hen.

Before venturing out this morning I looked out of an upstairs window and saw a duck (we live nowhere near the pond) sitting on/in the top of one of our hedges about 8 feet from the ground.

I have no idea why she had strayed so far from the pond, constantly popping up and down.

Maybe the hen was just taking a rest from the continuous attention of the drakes. :)
