Tarn Hows today. I just lay back while my wife and No 1 son circumscribed the tarn.
I tried a panorama, Basically a slow video sweep around, that the phone turned into a panoramic shot of the lake.

I took this from the start line of the Overgate Hospice midnight walk fundraiser last night.

About 750 of us set off at midnight on either a 7 or 13 mile route round Halifax.

I did the 13 mile route with a friend in around 4 hours, got into bed about 4:45am and my bloody body clock has me wide awake before 8am. If I’m not asleep in that armchair by mid afternoon I’ll be amazed.

I didn’t officially raise any sponsorship money this time and only my entry fee went to the hospice, but if anyone is feeling generous this morning then please visit their website for more information about this fantastic cause. I’ve been raising money for them for years since two friends sadly had to make use of their outstanding services.

The walk up to, and the view from, Surprise View in the Peak District earlier in the week. Hathersage is down there somewhere.

Now back south of the border after in week in Scotland, staying outside of Killin near Loch Tay.

Every time we go to the highlands or Skye I am reminded of the scale of the mountains compared to those found in England or Wales.

The last six are views from the summit of Meall nan Tarmachan, a Munro of 1,044m which in Munro terms isn’t that big. In perspective Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England is 978m, which if it was in Scotland would only place it as the 176th highest Munro.

Its my annual walking and drinking weekend (or is it drinking and walking?) with my mate this weekend. We usually visit the Lake District and base ourselves in Keswick but this year we’ve gone to Whitby and are walking part of the Cleveland way.

Todays walk was from Whitby heading south along the old cinder track railway line to Robin Hoods bay. A quick pint in a pub overlooking the bay and back along the Cleveland way to Whitby. With the walking from our B&B to and from town added we’ve done about 17 miles today.

Tomorrow we head north to Staithes but are planning the get the bus back to Whitby at the end.

Now to go and ensure we are adequately refreshed after all that effort.

@Bahnstormer_vRS It was still quite windy on those cliff tops and the weather is definitely starting to turn autumnal. At least it was sunny and dry.

Day two, Whitby to Staithes via Runswick bay. We’ve done about 14 miles so far. Now it’s back to the B&B for a shower before heading out for more refreshment.

It’s been a very enjoyable couple of days but it’s back home tomorrow.

A nice spot my family and I biked and hiked to today...
It has not rained in a while and the water level is low, so I was able to hop my way onto a rock in the middle of the stream.

My daughter always wears 2 watches! A fib-tib for step counting and her Victorynox because "it's so pretty!"

Back home after a week in Padstow, spent walking bits of the Southwest coastal path and eating in the local restaurants. The weather varied from sunny with showers to blowing a hooley. On the windiest and wettest day we took a return route away from the coast and came across an old airfield that I didn’t even know existed. The erosion on parts of the path seems to be getting worse each year.

As we are on a watch forum, there is also a pic of a watch that was safely worn in one of the local restaurants and on the coastal path.

Hardly a trickle in the creek now, but when the flash thunderstorms hit the creek can be 5-6 feet deep and dangerously swift. About 10 minutes’ walk from home.

Three from yesterday morning.

Sunny, a completely blue sky, the moon still visible at 10:40am and a bracing 1c.

A couple of one of my favourite birds. I love the way they work the shoreline, flipping stones over, although this pair were in the water.
