PayPal Friends and Family

Post by iain »

This is a strange one, thankfully it’s not my problem to resolve but I’d like to be able to help someone out.

A person has sent a PayPal friends and family payment to me that hasn’t arrived. After sharing screenshots it appears they had misspelled by name in my email and paid someone else. The payment seems to have gone to someone who spells Ian with one i, not two like I do.

As this was a F&F payment we aren’t sure if there is anything PayPal can do. Is there a way of getting a refund from one eyed Ian other than emailing them and hoping he is honest and returns it?

I think you'll need to email the other Ian and hope he is honest and will refund it.

Very unlucky that situation has happened - I've had people send to the wrong domain eg. .co.uk and not .com and it normally goes unclaimed and can be cancelled by the sender, but I don't think that's a possibility here.

Not sure where you stand to be honest being that it was a Friends and Family payment but looking at this page there may be a solution

^^^^ Thanks, PayPal have agreed to get involved and have also contacted the person requesting they refund the money.

I’ve been paid again and they are hopefully going to get a refund at some point. A lesson there for me, make sure you type the email address correctly.....

I just hate making these payments. Same with bank payments, although it's better now that some banks verify payee names. I still like to pay a small amount first, say £10 and then the balance when they confirm receipt.

I hope it all gets resolved, 2-eyed Iain. :D

That’s pretty smart

As a complete deviation of the thread, Hurricane Ian is currently building and heading towards the Caribbean. One eye only

I was going to give you the “Thread deviation of the year award” but I thought about it a little deeper.

Both one eyed Ian’s have just being going about their business not meaning any harm.

Both one eyed Ian’s are completely unaware of the chaos they have caused/are about to cause.

Once both one eyed Ian’s are a distant memory, hopefully everything will return to normal and any damage caused will have been put right.

So what could have been a complete off topic moment is actually a very astute observation, well done Lindsay.

I’m of course not wanting to trivialise what could be a very serious time for those about to be hit by hurricane Ian. I hope any members affected stay safe.

Ah, I’m so grateful to you for elevating my off topic moment to the level of very astute observation. It’s as if my Sunday just got more productive when all I’m doing is sitting on the sofa
