Haha, touche! :lol:
A fine riposte indeed. I'm sure that we all have sections we are simply not interested in reading. So surely the suggestion of being able to block them selectively is neither silly nor inappropriate.

It was not supposed to be a riposte. I genuinely do that. I was just pointing out that you can mark a whole forum as read with one click.

I do the same when viewing the Sales Corner...look over all the new topics and only go further if there's something that catches my eye. If there's nothing that piques my interest I hit 'mark all topics read'! I never use the unread topics link as there's no order to the subjects and I prefer going through from the board index.

PHPBB is old technology now - I would hope that under the new ownership we might see the forum software moved to something newer... where this kind of functionality could be more easily put in place - I am not aware of a way of doing it with PHPBB other than bespoke coding...

As a special favour Steve I can set Watchroll to ping you an email everytime there is a bid on any Christopher Ward watch on ebay :D, the code roughly speaking would be:
if($somethinghas changed == 'yes'){
send annoying email;
}

At the top of the forum list there are a number of links

View unanswered posts
View unread posts
View new posts
View active topics

I tend to use View Unread Posts to ensure that I see them all. Part of the role of a moderator but I did it before I was anyway. It is not a large forum like some others so most of the time I can keep up. If I have threads that have been read and think I should reply to one I can use View New Posts to see the most recent ones - read or unread.

If it is a thread that goes on for a while and you have part read it you will see what looks like a little brown folder with a blue corner. If you hover over it it will say View First Unread Post. A quick way to skip all the bits you have read and go to the first post you have not read.

To be suitably annoying, you would of course need to ensure that every single email comes from a different email address with a different title so that he can't block them using filters :lol: :lol:

Not a problem, and could bounce it around a few ip addresses as well :)

We wouldn't want to think you were being deliberately difficult, would we? ;)

Delete the eBay section? The less people look the better lol
One day I'll get found out.
