Indeed. Fair play to the bloke for being top of his game for soooo long and finishing on his terms.

Washington Commanders

Will take some getting used to!

I wonder which will come first, getting used to name or a play off place.

50/50 I reckon

^^^^ or as one joker on social medical pointed out, the WCs. Which seems quite apt considering their performances.

Hi guys,
Can someone please give me a quick latest on where it's at currently for what two teams will be in the Superbowl ?
I watch the Superbowl when I can but I don't follow the sport as such.

The typical American is not likely to get the WC reference.

If Washington are absent, I always root for the NFC team

I wasn’t aware. For those who don’t know what WC stands for, it’s an acronym for Water Closet, or Toilet, or bathroom/restroom.

The Washington Restrooms, not sure it’ll wash with the fans.

I got the reference for sure, and I think it’s both hilarious and appropriate for Washington!

Still wasn’t convinced the name needed changing especially as:-

There are still three US sports franchises with names associated with Native American themes - the NFL's Kansas City Chiefs, Major League Baseball's Atlanta Braves and the Chicago Blackhawks in the National Hockey League.

Too much PC these days, it’s gone mad.

Anyway I’ve been a fan since John Riggins and Joe Theisman wore the fabulous burgundy and gold. Best uniform in football.

^^^^ I can’t claim to understand the intricacies behind Native American culture and know why one term may be offensive while others aren’t.

However we have to accept that language evolves over time, if it didn’t we all be speaking like Shakespeare.

If what was once a slang term has evolved into something others may find offensive, then it’s probably time for how and when we use it to evolve as well.
