Adjusting the time this morning for DST has giving me a new appreciation for the ETA 251.264 movement. The independently adjusted hour hand is a great convenience! I’ll admit, when I first got the watch I found it strange that the date was adjusted by advancing or reversing the hour hand in one hour increments. But now I understand! It’s so as not to screw up the amazingly accurate time! This feature might also make this my go to travel watch for now.
Forgive the ignorance of the question, but is this a fairly standard feature on HAQ movements, all quality quartz movements in general, or an unusual feature? I know my very inexpensive quartz watches I used to wear DID NOT have this.

Re: New appreciation for HAQ movement
Not necessarily the norm with HAQ.
My 9F doesn't have this feature, although it should have as Seiko did implement it in the 8J series.
They've recently updated the 9F family to include a GMT movement which does this.
I know some Omega quartz models before their discontinuation had it, but they weren't HAQ (I don't think).
I think a lot of Citizens high end quartz movements also have the feature.
The neatest function I've seen was the Longines VHP I (very) briefly owned.
The "smart" crown adjusted the minute/hour hands with a slow turn as per normal, but a quick/sharp turn of the crown in the same position moved the hour hand +/- an hour.
May sound overly complicated, but was really simple to use.
Shame the rest of the watch didn't perform as stated.

That's a useful complication. It's a pain to have to reset everything to change the time, when the time zone changes.

Re: New appreciation for HAQ movement
You know what’s interesting, the handbook makes no reference to using the date setting position specifically for adjusting the hour hand. Position 2 is described as for setting the date and mentions how this is done by advance or reversing the hour hand. Position 3 is described as for setting the time. One would think with a COSC certified, HAQ movement like this, the manual would EXPLICITLY mention using setting 2 for adjusting the hour hand when traveling so as not to impact the accuracy of the time.
Can anyone verify if the 1 VEV and 2 VEV share this feature?
EDITED TO ADD: I just looked up the movements for the 1 & 2 VEV online. Both descriptions mention a time zone function. I’m assuming that means an independently set hour hand.

The, non COSC, movement used in the early C7/C70 watches have the hour hand movement to change the date but, I recall, the C7 Mk2 v390 moved to a regular quick set for the date.

The 2VEV has the independent hour hand functionality at crown position 3.
