My least favourite weekend of the year

Post by Amor Vincit Omnia »

It’s that time again. So depressing. :( :thumbdown:

I saw this on Facebook earlier…

Isn’t it great that my new watch with the independent hour hand arrived just in time for this day \:D/

I've spent a good chunk of the day trying to amend the code in my app to better handle the change in daylight savings... and I'm still a little wary that it won't work :lol:
On the plus side, I'll know for sure by tomorrow!

Funnily enough, this is less of an issue when you regularly rotate mechanical watches, as I'm always setting them 'fresh' anyway... but it's the one (well, one of two...) time of year when my small number of quartz watches become a headache!

well, to be fair, they're also a pain in february, april, june, september, and november, when you have to skip a day or three on the calendar wheel.

@gwells - a good point!
I've got two main quartz watches - a G-Shock, that'll just need the hours adjusted twice a year, and a Mondaine Big Date, which has two individual wheels for the digits of the date... so I need to bump the date on every month as it goes from 00 - 39 :lol:

Quartz watches? I've got a couple that are already set to the correct time, but not date, as I've not put them forward during the summer. :oops: :oops:

Otherwise, it's the best weekend of the year for me, as I don't have to stay up beyond midnight to watch the end of the 'late window' NFL games; as clocks in the USA don't change until next weekend.

I hate this time of year as well. Over here, it means the football starts an hour later for all kick offs, as we go 7 hours ahead of the UK until the end of March. Really annoying! The next live match (all premier games are shown live here (subscription)), kicks off at 23.30, next week, it will be 00.30.

When I was working, I used to love this weekend as the "extra hour in bed" felt like luxury. And later as a self-employed gardener, it marked the end of the season. Now that I'm retired I can have an extra hour in bed whenever I feel like it.

Watches? Well my G-Shock adjusts automatically with the atomic clock, so that's what I set all other timepieces from. One at a time as I wear them.
I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left

I will be putting all the timepieces that need help back an hour before I go to bed tonight.
