My gears are grinding - on Father's Day of all days

Post by tikkathree »

What started out as a gentle drive over to Cambridge for a mooch about, a bit of people watching with an old film camera kinda missed a beat when discovering that Loch Fyne eating establishment closed late 2023. I'm pleased to report that successor business Little Rose is a delight. https://www.littlerosecambridge.com

We drove home to discover that our wifi had awarded itself a day off without prior permission so needed the threat of a good slap to get it going again. Amongst other things I wanted to reply to Peteo's long topic... job done.

Then this:

Resource Limit Is Reached

Ah well, another first world problem which wouldn't have happened pre-covid!

I have learned that when foreign tourists shamble towards me with their full attention locked into their mobile devices the best I can do for them is to stand quite still, elbows out. I'm too old, too tall, slightly too wide and too entrenched in apparently out-of-fashion notions of courtesy and respect for one's elders to spend my days hopping out of their way.

To pick up on two of the points you make, Pete;-

1. The Admin Team has been monitoring the frequent occurrence of the 'Resource Limit Reached' (508 error) during today, Sunday and it will be looked into.

2. Your phone user locked, seemingly oblivious to all external influences, might be akin to this;-

I've been getting this same message throughout Sunday to0 but only on the mobile. A refresh of the page brings it back.

Guy I'd say the Resource Limit message happens at the weekends and maybe Friday evenings but during working weekdays barely at all: no great surprise I guess.

^^^^ Except it shouldn't really be happening at all, Pete.

There's a balancing act to play out with our 'Resources' to allow the Forum to run smoothly but securely.

Suffice to say, we've (The Admin Team) been in touch with our IT support today and some tweaks have been made that should improve matters for us.
