Mobile Phone Network questions....?

Post by reggie747 »

Hey all,

I've been on an O2 sim only deal for a few years after getting away from my phone/sim contract and I'm now considering a GiffGaff sim only deal because the prices seem quite attractive.
Does anyone do the giffgaff simo deal and how have you found the service relative to your previous set up ?

Cheers

We switched to GiffGaff about 3 years ago and wouldn't go back to a normal contract - we use for business and personal and have 3 or 4 sims. You also receive free calls between giffgaff users.

If you use data/make calls regularly then sign-up to a recurring goodybag - if you only use the phone every so often add some credit to the sim and forget about it.

Hope that helps.
Current collection incl Citizen, G-Shock, Rolex, Seiko, Sinn & Tag.

^^^

Thanks Chris, it sounds very helpful. I use the phone quite a lot, mostly 8 til 6 and a fair bit of whatsapp/texting too.
Eases off after hours a a little..
I'm reading that they lease from O2 anyway so the coverage, I assume, would be affectively the same ?

Yep - GiffGaff piggyback 02, so there should be no difference in coverage you currently experience.

Yes, no difference with signal or coverage - only major difference is they don't have call centres, so if you have any problems you go to the website and either look for a fix yourself, or ask the giffgaff community for help.

I use to work at o2 and can recommend giffgaff coverage wise. ironically not only does it use their network its owned by o2 owner Telefonica. only negative is like mentioned above if you have an issue there is no store only online but the community are a great asset esp for set up issues

No personal experience but I've got a mate who uses Giff Gaff and has done for years. No complaints from him and he uses mountains of data for streaming, etc.

I was always wary of poor coverage but as soon as my contract runs out next April I'll be switching to them.

I have been getting sim only deals for my wife, son and daughter for a while. I usually go with Martin Lewis's recommendations. Both my kids are on idmobile with no issues £8 per month for 500 minutes and 4GB of data (which is a lot when you think aren't eating into that when on work or home wifi) :)

Greg have you looked at Plusnet? They use the ee network and when I shopped around had the best price and I've had no issues with the service
