I've gotten a call back from the local dealer yesterday, he said he can't make the stock car work for me on PCP as they can do a better PCP deal on a new order car.
He gave me a quote on a new MINI with the DCT but basic otherwise and unlike the UK where the trade in value is excellent.......I was offered €20,500 which is about €11,000 down on what I paid for it...
Also the monthly would go up, not by much, another €60 a month.
The deposit though would be way too high at €4000.
Ferg, I know it might be stating the obvious, but does the ROI have an equivalent of webuyanycar.com or similar where you can get an instant idea of what they would pay for your car, as a sense check of the trade in value you have been quoted? Maybe you've already done this.

It would be surprising if used car values aren't also high in ROI given the main reason for this phenomenon is the global shortage of semi conductor chips and the impact on new car production/supply.

Just to update on this :

Much has gone on since I last talked to you all on this.
I sent off for quotes from five MINI dealers in total.
One came back with an identical trade in price....however one came back quite higher indeed !! :)
That was last Thursday. I still hadn't heard back properly from the dealer I always go to.
It got to the stage where I was literally minutes from doing the deal with the dealer with the higher trade in quote and much more favorable deposit and monthly figure when my usual dealer rang me....!
I don't know how my phone survived that day, huge amount of calls back and forth between those two dealers.

Anyway my usual dealer gave me a quote that was very poor, similar to the first couple, huge deposit, bad trade in etc.
After telling them that I had in fact gotten a proper quote from another dealer, they went away and were back on about 10 minutes later with an offer that didn't just match the other dealer but bettered it ! :D
I have gotten almost €4000 extra trade in now for my MINI so I am thrilled.
All good except I had to find €2000 fast...
Thankfully no watches were harmed in doing so
Confirmation today of the €2000 means we are a GO for a new MINI for 2022 :D
Finer details to be done in the next couple of days, the deposit sent by bank transfer today to the dealer.
Just have to get another figure for the monthly if I want to upgrade the options a bit, based on that I should be officially putting in the order later this week.

Thanks Patrick.

It was probably obvious but the nearly infamous Ferg haggling was extremely intense and the poor salesman in my usual dealer really went through a rough time with me.
At one stage it was nearly every 3 minutes or so he had to come back to me with a new offer because I flatly refused his previous one.
He eventually came back with more or less the final figures that I went with and he was so thrilled to have beaten the other dealer's figures and that I obviously will now go with him..........I then crushed him by saying that I wasn't impressed with him at all and that compared to the other dealer he was way to slow coming back with figures and that I had lost all faith in him.......
He was genuinely crushed...! Ferg 1 Dealer 0 lol

He's very new so assumed this would be an easy sale, how wrong he was but in fairness he stepped up, eventually, to the mark

Just have to see if I can get the upgrade pack to within feasible for me on the monthly figure, if not then the pack I have selected earlier will be fantastic anyway.

Oh not sure I mentioned but it is for the DCT version 8)

Good to hear you have it, mostly, sorted Ferg.

Hopefully, supply issues will resolve in the next few months and 2022 is a realistic expectation for delivery.

Well done that sounds like a great deal. My son in law sells BMW and Minis and he has said he doesn’t sell many these days with discount of any kind. All non stock vehicles have lengthy delivery times. Trade ins are a different story with values through the roof. (My wife was offered 2k less than the price we paid for her approaching 5yr old MIni Cooper S)
The gearbox is a peach on the high performance Minis, my daughter has one. The 8spd BMW gearbox is always in the correct rev band for get up and go and the ‘flappy paddle’ option is lightning quick and smooth. Sadly my Mini PHEV is a different story on the gearbox front but it fulfils a different role.

Nicely done Ferg!
Just out of interest - how will this now work? Will you hold on to your current car until the new one is built and still get the offered trade in on it? Or do you have to give it up now and drive around in a bangernomics car until the new one arrives? (I've never bought a car less than 8 years old so this is a whole new world to me!)

Well done Ferg, as a serial car purchaser I'm always warmed by a successful negotiation and great deal. Looking forward to seeing the mini beast when delivery dates are sorted. 👍

Yes I drive away in my car till the new one is delivered. They have factored into the deal what the remaining finance will be etc for a guide of early February I believe for delivery.

Thank you all for the comments.

I should have figures for the possible option pack upgrade and then make my final decision then and order the car.

Look forward to the pics when it arrives, personally would buy a manual but understand it's your daily.

Some mileage for a relatively small country!

Yeah, my work commute for the week on its own is about 225 miles so throw some leisure driving in as well then you see where the mileage comes from.
All smiles per mile, or kilometers as in my case lol

Yes I saw that article Malcolm ;)

Delighted I'm going for one now instead to be honest as I'm not keen on the newer one in that article.
