A mini GP overtook me yesterday, looked very nice - is that the one with no rear seats and a roll cage?
GP06 XXX was the reg number.
Current collection incl Citizen, G-Shock, Rolex, Seiko, Sinn & Tag.

Also regarding the oil use, the F56 uses ZERO oil between changes.......Zip, Nada !
Some difference between the that and the R56 !
Cheers Ferg.

Has decided this evening it's between the JCW and Type R. All other contenders ruled out.

Aiming to do showroom visit and test drive on both in the next couple of weeks.

Wow, chalk and cheese in a way. The CTR is massive compared to even the modern "chunky" minis. I have a misty eyed fondness for TypeRs of old, having owned a couple. The breadvan EP3 was the best.

My favourite chuck-it-about car of that size is still the Fiesta ST, but a JCW would be a close second.

Funny that Jon, I keep looking at Type R's, Integras, S2000's - never owned one but have had spells of driving them in the past and just loved the high revving vtec engines.
Current collection incl Citizen, G-Shock, Rolex, Seiko, Sinn & Tag.

I was watching one of the latest series of the Grand Tour last night and they were driving a Type R and very complimentary about it. Certainly a larger and more practical car in terms of space (can take 4 adults plus a big boot, fold down hatchback etc). The GT edition which is the one to have though will be about £33.5k new whereas you can get a high spec JCW manual for about £8k less.

@Thegreyman - is that accountant speak, Patrick, for the Honda's expensive?

I haven't looked at it myself but Michael reckons the gap narrows when you add all the necessary packs to the JCW.

Of course a lot will depend on what the 'price to change' will be (having factored in the p/x price on his current Cooper S).

Guy, accountant speak...probably yes :D

At the end of the day, your son will drive both decide which one he likes the best (I'm going to plump for the Mini), negotiate a deal, then justify it to himself that it's the better option to go for, regardless of cost...that's what I'd do anyway

I think that's about right Patrick.

I'm trying not to influence him. Either is a fabulous car.

Attended the London to Brighton mini run for the 1st time this past Sunday, Had a great time at Crystal palace park viewing some stunning cars, Unfortunately I only made it as far as Coulsdon (About 9 miles) before I found I had no coolant and a great big hole in the radiator so ended up being towed home behind an RAC recovery truck  Never mind there's always next year! Great event though and well worth a visit if you are ever in the area and have any sort of interest in Minis new or old!!

That's a lot of Minis! Reminds me of when the missus and me attended the 35th and 40th Mini anniversary bashes at Silverstone in our Mini Mary Quant Designer years ago. Thousands of the darned things.....was a lot of fun

Sadly we sold it in 2002 when I bought her a new Smart Passion for her 50th.

I still get Mini pangs :(
