At three weeks old, it developed a fault in the Adaptive Cruise Control. It took VW NZ a further SEVEN WEEKS to repair it (which took about an hour!!!!!!)Bahnstormer_vRS wrote:Just in time for the Winterbspj wrote:Good show!

Enjoy the trip to the UK.MiniMpi wrote:Dropped off my MINI for ceramic coating today.
Going to cost a pretty penny but it will look amazing and just in time for our road trip to the UK this Thursday.

ACC can be a tricky little blighter, from my experience with it on a couple of Skodas. Almost too clever for its own good.bspj wrote:At three weeks old, it developed a fault in the Adaptive Cruise Control. At least they arranged a hire car for some of that time. The RAV4 evinced how good our X3 is....
Hateful, hateful system is the old ACC. First thing to be switched off.Bahnstormer_vRS wrote:ACC can be a tricky little blighter, from my experience with it on a couple of Skodas. Are you going for Delft, Dresden, Worcester style etc....
May I suggest a nice Clarice Cliff if you are looking for something a little different?
I assume that is a different process to the covering your car in meringue that you did a few months ago?

Glad to hear you got it sorted out in the end, that was some wait though Steve !bspj wrote:At three weeks old, it developed a fault in the Adaptive Cruise Control. It took VW NZ a further SEVEN WEEKS to repair it (which took about an hour!!!!!!)

I'm sure the cost price for a 'ceramic coating' e.g. Autoglym Lifeshine* is nearer £100 than £45 Paul, whilst I agree a dealer's price is around £250/£300.PaulJS wrote:smegwina wrote:What in all that is holy is ceramic coating?MiniMpi wrote:Dropped off my MINI for ceramic coating today.

Ceramic coating is the latest thing that car dealers are pushing under the auspices of the like of Williams F1 to give your car a bullet proof protective coating.
It is good stuff and does protect the paintwork BUT the dealers absolutely rip the arse out of it: the kit is about £45 and a valet company will charge £55 to apply it.
The rest is cream off for the dealer ( usually £200 - £300)
I know this how? The company next door to us is a car valeters who have the local Volvo contract and they are doing these regularly.
My father in law recently bought a new Yeti and the dealer offered the ceramic treatment for £300. Our friendly next door valet company took the car straight from the dealer and did the protective coating inside and out for £45 using spare product from main dealer cars they do.

Do remember though that it, with Autoglym Lifeshine at least, includes protection for the paintwork, upholstery and windows, and Autoglym then provide a Lifetime (five year) Warranty on the paintwork and upholstery*. Additionally, the dealer would, understandably I'm sure, like to make a profit on this Aftersales item, and pay the Salesman a smidgen of commission.
No doubt your Father-in-Law is grateful for having his Yeti looking resplendent, as is mine (I had it Lifeshined when new and again last year), but I doubt he will have any warranty on it.

I know this how? I used to work for a Skoda main dealer.![]()
