Thanks Guy ;)

It got a new timing chain and tensioner less than 4,000 kms ago so that's fine thankfully.

No mods, I want it to stay going lol
I should have my full 210bhp back after its done and that will be perfect for me ;)
They are 175bhp as standard but I have a custom remap to bring it to 210bhp.

Nice ferg, the turbo is better for a remap, especially on fuel!

My r53 cooper s had the loewen pulley reduction giving my wee supercharged chariot 210bhp too... I would have another, it's much more robust than the turbo and sounds the dogs danglies!

I agree James, the R53 has a more reliable engine no doubt but you have other things that go wrong, superchargers letting go, alternators exploding, timing chain tensioners giving grief etc etc but a sound base engine if you look after it with regular oil changes.
The R56 is a much more accomplished car though all round.

I agree loved the way my r56 drove...but I did love the whine of the supercharger!

As you know our r56 was a remapped sd great when it worked....spent too much time broken down though

And FYI I had one of those problems...the amazing exploding alternator!

So a bit of an update on my MINI.
Its back and absolutely fabulous :)

New valves, New piston rings, New later type rocker cover with better breathers, New water pump pulley as it had started to self destruct. Engine is so smooth now and idles spot on.
You can feel the power waiting to be unleashed :)
Fair bit of running in to go yet as I only have about 200 kms on it so far and I want 1000 kms on it before I can let her fly !

I also got the gearbox oil changed, MINI say this is a 'lifetime product' which it isn't.
New brake discs and pads all round, drilled and grooved on the front and new brake fluid too.
I also got the heater rad replaced as it was leaking.

So a comprehensive amount of work and lots of Euros......roughly €2000 all in which was very reasonable as I know the guys well and they charged a miniscule amount of labour in fairness.

I was replacing the bonnet stripes with new ones yesterday and after removing the old ones I decided against fitting any, I think it looks much better without them.

Very very happy Ferg :)

All set now for our Miniclub Wild Atlantic Way event tomorrow.
Car is all cleaned and ready to go.

Very smart Ferg!!

Is it leaking or sweating ??

I had magnetic bonnet stripes for mine.....black with red piping from the states. Mrs "Winnie" didn't like
em, but I did......mostly...

Enjoy the event, and I hope it doesn't rain !!
