So it went on painlessly?
Has the return the 'manufacture' settings and exhaust diminished the performance?

3 bolts and clip off the electrical connection ;)
About half an hour and the part was reasonable at €53.00
I have a remap to 210bhp on the car and surprisingly it seems way quicker and smoother now.
So happy days.

Flipping heck Ferg, that's 109,375 miles in 'real money'.

Going some for a MINI! (wink)

I guess you could call this a keeper.

Yip thats correct, bought it in September 2012 with 113,000 kms (70,625 miles) so I'm pushing on the mileage all right.
Changing the oil & filter well before the official time is helping loads and using the proper low sulphur content 5W/30.
Also regular chemical de-carboning is essential being direct injection.
I bought it very right at the time so I could potentially get a profit if I sold it now but I love it too much.

Ouch, ouch and thrice ouch! What a b*****. Sorry to hear.

Any major damage? e.g. Valves / pistons.

When changing the chain etc. do think about related ancillaries e.g. water pump. Often cost effective to change at the same time.

Thanks Guy ;)
It didn't let go, Thankfully ! , just rattling.....needs doing as soon as I can.
Big problem on the R56 MINI's is the timing chain. Unofficially it really needs changing every 30,000 miles along with the tensioner.
I changed mine over 40,000 miles ago......so I should have known better and had it done before now.
My independent MINI specialist normally charges €600 Euro to do it but as I used to work for him before he's going to do it for €400 Euro :)

Cor, live and learn.

I thought it was only cam belts that had to be changed periodically, and then only around 40-60,000 miles.

Why so soon on the MINI (vested interest as my son has a 2012 Cooper S)?
