To be honest, in my eyes, any Mini made from 1977 to 1990 is best forgotten about really, best years were, again in my eyes, from 1959 to 1969 and again from 1997 to 2000.

I'm with you there Ferg.

My first Mini was a 1959 850 (with the magic wand gear stick) kindly given to me by my uncle in 1973. My second was a 1970 Mini 1000 (which the previous owner has modified to Cooper spec).

That's brilliant. I do like minis, we race once a year in Barbados and there's a wild group B mini from The Netherlands with a Vauxhall engine and the widest track you've ever seen on a mini. Looks crazy on 18" wheels and tarmac tyres. I'll dig out a pictures.

And in 2010 some university students from England brought this to race

It was a school project.

My mother (a notoriously fast and aggressive driver) used to visit me at school while driving it. By then it was an old lady (the CAR) but still went well, and other boys queued up for a ride. It was, er, entertaining.
