Fair cop scooter. In my defence, I'd just like to point out that the first mention of scooters came from the trouble-maker Cornishdave. I'll apologise on his behalf. :)

I like the way this thread is going...........

but not the way my MX5 has gone........yep......the dealer told me he had sold it yesterday..new owner picking it up on Wednesday..... :( .a pox on him.......

I have spent the afternoon trawling T'net looking for another, and it looks like a real beaut has slipped thru my fingers, but it's a car, and there are loads, and it's the winter, and they don't sell many now (at least it's not -26 here, we pay far too much tax for it to get that cold !)

The wife dared shouting at me (from a safe place- the kitchen where her size 11 feet, and 14" biceps were stirring our "broth"-don't ask-we don't/dare not) not too get too carried away with what I'm allowed to spend.....does she never learn....us types-and i mean CW forum types would never dream of going over budget...... 8)

so the hunt is stagnating, but still on

No not a Mini........my wife had one of the old ones and reduced me to tears on a 7 hour journey from Ashford to Sheffield once where I swear water boarding would have been giving me more pleasure, and we had one of the new minis when they first came out (Cooper/chilli pack etc....) and those clowns in Oxford were crap at putting it together, and those idiots at BMW Chandlers Ford couldn't give a monkeys, so it went back seeing as they enjoyed messing with it rather than us driving it. I once asked them if they wouldn't mind paying for the tax and insurance seeing that they had it for longer than us !......so if you have one of those BMW Mini's good luck....by the way has anyone seen one of them with the "slashed" roof yet?

Put it this way village,

I don't think it would be a good idea to be near James at the moment if he had a pair of scissors in his hand.

@ James - Seeing those Police cars reminded me. Are you still tagged up?

I have been in a half way house now for several months.......well ok known to be seen in "Free Houses" on an occasional basis, The Lamb in Nomans Land on Saturday afternoon, and the "Sir John Barleycorn" on Sunday (not a great pub, but the Lamb is great !

Good call - they just recalled 235,000 for an electrical fault (they make around 250,000 a year)

What's a halfway house? Is that when you are like in Witness Protection?

I have driven past the Sir John Barleycorn many times when hammering across from Southampton (Parkhouse) to Bournemouth (Michael Matthews and Charles Fox). I recall stopping off for a quick drink at the Rockingham, Canada last summer. The Trusty Servant at Minstead is a favourite of ours when heading down to Lymington (Watches of Distinction).

To keep this post on topic I would add that I was, at all times, in my Mazda MX5 (honest M'lud). :)

A half way house i believe is somewhere where they "reintroduce" persons to the "community" after a long sentence, very good idea, but you wouldn't want one next door to you. (Contrary to my flippant postings, I have to be clear never been an inmate of HMPS, and to date no criminal record, but being good all the time can be a little less interesting)

For a real "Locals" pub, (but food not great, but great beer) try the "Compass" in Winsor, about 4 mins drive from junc 1 M27, and 400m from moi pad!)

But around here the Lamb at Nomansland has great food. It also is opposite a cricket ground where batsmen can hit a boundary from one county into another as the border of Hampshire and Wiltshire runs along the edge of the field....there you go more useless trivia learnt from CW forum...hhhmmmm a new thread perhaps?

I have stopped calling for quotes as the car i tried to get a quote for was sold, but as soon as i get a car secured i will spend some time on the phone. i am hoping to get it for less than £300, for the money i want to spend on a car, bearing in mind this will be a car that is going to be a "Toy" for those dry days in the sun, as we have cars already for "work". The cheapest quote for an 06 plate valued at £6500 was £348. Expensive in my view as it was for under 5000 miles per year, garaged, both of us advanced drivers. My driving school insurance is only a little more than that, and thats class 1 business use teaching newuns !

It has a hard top, and only 21600ish miles ! the dealer was tough and wouldn't budge on his price one penny, but i managed to get a full service @ £245 thrown in, and new MOT, 1 years tax, new mats, and as the F/N/S wheel had been kerbed they are going to refurbish it rather than the cheap silver paint ploy they had done. He wouldn't even give me a full tank of fuel !.....but I'm happy with the deal. The only faults with it are a couple of stone chips on the front, and the door must have been opened by a hairdresser holding her scissors as there are a few scratches on and by the handle, but i have a big grin, the kids are excited, I only have to give the bill now to "Her in Doors" as she is buying it for me....for about the next 20 years worth of Xmas/birthday presents......down side is I might not now be getting the Meisesinger for my 50th  but i 'll worry about that in 3 years time........a mid life crises?......don't know guv....but sure will have some fun finding out......
