Me And My Scooter

Post by scooter »

What with Spring hopefully just around the corner I thought it about time to take a few photos of the scooter. I can't wait for those warm and balmy days ahead of me.

I might need them to remind myself of how nice she looks in case I have the odd crash during the year.

Lovely machine, scooter!
Care to tell us a bit more about it, please? Or link to a thread if you already have?

Oh dear, Scooter. What a faux-pas. Your tan leather shoes do not match the dark brown colour of your seat. [-X

Although based on a 1946 classic with the headlamp on the front mudguard, this Vespa is a 2008 model.

She's a GTV 125 automatic ,single cylinder 4 stroke and water cooled capable of 64 mph. Like all Vespas she has a pressed sheet metal frame with welded reinforcements. At 144 kgs, she's not light but feels very stable (for a scooter) with 12 inch wheels. The stopping power is single discs on both front and rear.

A great ride and immense fun.

Looking good Scooter. More fun times ahead. Looks as though you have added a few more mirrors if I am not mistaken?

Thanks for the info. Super retro look, I'd assumed it must be a lot older!

@ jm

One can never have too many mirrors on a Mod scooter. This was a reaction to a law passed by the government of the time which required motorbikes to have a mirror. The Mods decided that if they were made to have mirrors then they would have loads of them.

Now, I need some air horns.

Nice one.....apart from the shoes faux pas (ian B) lol

I do think though, however, if you tried hard enough, you may be able to squeeze a few more mirrors on there.......best not to compromise!! :D

I'm afraid there are none. Maybe not such a bad thing.

I returned the other 4 to Allstyles Scooters in Portsmouth. All in all, with the petrol involved, a very expensive mistake.

Nice. I did some work on a chaps Vespa last year (or the year before  ) and put a Polini big bore kit on it along with a spannie exhaust and decent carb. Took some setting up jetting wise but it was great fun blasting round and round the local roads checking the jetting.

Went like fook as well!

Bit too well as he sold it a few weeks later - scooter riders are POOVES!!!!!!!!!!!!
