Let's hear it for the Royal Mail/Parcel Force
Re: Let's hear it for the Royal Mail/Parcel Force
I don't know whether all the parcels in transit have turned up, but I have a good result
I ordered a watch from AliExpress on 7th December.
The expected arrival date was 11th January, and I wasn't fussed, as I didn't expect it before Christmas.
Anyway -
7th December - order placed
8th December - advised it was shipped
11th December - advised it had reached UK, so with prepaid VAT, it entered the UK post system
19th December - arrived today, sort of unexpected but expected at the same time, if you see what I mean.

Re: Let's hear it for the Royal Mail/Parcel Force
The special I sent on Thursday morning that was refused at post office #1 was delivered on Saturday morning, which was quicker than I expected.
I also sent a 2nd class small parcel at the same time and that arrived this morning - wasn't expecting that to be delivered until the New Year.
In summary, it's a lottery but as confirmed previously anything that's valuable should be sent using RMSD, it probably won't arrive on time but you do have more protection and they do seem to be prioritised providing they are sent to the correct sorting office.

^^^^ definitely a lottery.
Crew Clothing RMSD to collect from a local store.
- Order made on the 6th Dec
- Confirmation that package dispatched on the 6th Dec
- Contact made with Crew CS, order missing 16th Dec
- Crew CS confirm package lost 18th Dec
- Refund received via my PP account 18th Dec
I don’t think I’ve ever been so nervous than when I posted the Sealander to the winner of the raffle, I used RMSD. You guys who flip watches must have nerves of steel.

Re: Let's hear it for the Royal Mail/Parcel Force
I've sold the majority of my collection in the last 3 months, all via ebay and posted using RM.
I always check addresses, take photos, pack them securely, sent on time, fully insured and describe accurately. Yes their is a risk with any transaction but they've all arrived (eventually) with no problems from buyers apart from one who I suspect was fraud and the watch was never sent. Last few buyers have been really chatty and very much reminded me of selling stuff on here in the past.

I have had good experiences buying on ebay. Some sellers don't respond to questions as you would like, and it's easy to just not buy from them.
I didn't realise that relists don't cost the seller, (is that correct?) so they can keep relisting until they find a buyer.

I always sell on a Buy It Now and only when it's reduced fees - but never let it auto relist because you'll then be charged the full fees.

Do you have to pay for it again, Pete, or at least refund the refund?

And now the only thing I'm waiting for is a 21mm mesh strap ordered from an Ali Express vendor for under £3.

Immediately on delivery I contacted the seller with the good news, gave him the choice of payment direct or through the EBay refund reversal route and paid him directly.Bahnstormer_vRS wrote: ↑Sun Dec 25, 2022 6:26 pmTop notch.tikkathree wrote: ↑Thu Dec 22, 2022 4:28 pm Posted in Norwich 28th November

Whilst I was in the limbo land of having received a refund from EBay I actually thought through whether to keep it or return it and honestly my postman looked so happy to have delivered the missing item that I didn't have the heart to refuse it and make Royal Mail return it.

Re: Let's hear it for the Royal Mail/Parcel Force
I sold a CW on Saturday, posted first thing yesterday morning with Special Delivery 1pm service.
Just checked, it was delivered at 8.14 this morning.
That’s the earliest I’ve ever had a SD 1pm arrive.
Not bad eh!!

Re: Let's hear it for the Royal Mail/Parcel Force
I liked it when CW used RMSD. Because I was working full time and rarely at home, I gave CW my work address as the delivery address and the secretaries at school were always very happy to take delivery from the postie.
It was always there as stipulated by 1 pm. Let me say though that I have never had a problem with a DPD delivery myself, but one reads the horror stories, especially at busy times.

Re: Let's hear it for the Royal Mail/Parcel Force
That makes me smile a lot and recall working at a now-closed civil service office; I'd similarly arranged delivery and the gal who received the post promptly passed the parcel to me. That caused her team leader to ask what was going on (hints of micromanaging jobsworth anyone?) and that team leader phoned my team leader into a "did you know about this?" discussion which resulted in my team leader calling me into an interview room and attempt to give me a right telling off. I asked him what I'd done wrong and to show me the written rule about not receiving personal stuff at work. Of course there wasn't one. Managers? golly, those people couldn't manage to break a biscuit.Amor Vincit Omnia wrote: ↑Tue Jan 17, 2023 9:59 am I liked it when CW used RMSD. I think it's time to check that the pre-paid return to CW servicing posted on Saturday has by now arrived.
