The online spares business is good, I'm sure someone would be able to supply a full set of arms for not much cash. It's not like you need brand new ones to soak up the miles....

Correct. Thank you all for your observations. I bought the car new in 1998 and I can't bring myself to part with it. It still looks as good as the day I bought it, deep maroon, parchment leather and it wafts along in almost total silence from the 4 litre engine. For some years now the main dealer has collected and returned the car, completed a service and MOT for about £250 and I've always been well satisfied. So I'm in shock today but tomorrow I'll stock up at Majestic! Thanks again for all your advice.

Robin.
So are you trusting the job to your dealer @ £1,200?

'fraid so. I had already told them to get on with it before I posted. Next year I'll have my whits about me (hopefully!)

I think it's out of stock at Bicester.

I'll go for some nice South African, Chenin, Sauvignon and Viognier.

Thanks for the Banbury garage tip.

That's horrendous

If I were you I'd give someone like rimmer brothers a call (specialist parts supplier on British marques) and check the cost of parts

If they are a good idea to replace together

Big heavy motor put a new part in and the play in the other will be exacerbated and it'll fail soon after anyway ... rear arms on the BMW are the same

Hope that helps
