Incoming ... Watch box

Post by JAFO »

I just bought a watch box of a style of which I already have several. 5 up with wider cushions.

Still looking though, I was wandering through Amazon, as eBay didn't have what I wanted, and saw a Rothwell watch box in assorted colours and sizes, but also with a 5 grid design similar to one I had bought. These are 34cm wide for 5 up, so 60mm spaces. Plenty of room for large watches.

Anyway, they also have a 10 and 20 grid design, with a couple of colours in the 20 size at half price. My son said he would buy one as a birthday present (August), and it's just been delivered. Very pleasing, larger watches are well spaced, and a relatively compact way of storing a larger collection. The screenshot is from the Amazon listing, although this is the colour I picked. Now put away for a month or so.

I've been looking at these myself recently. Annoyingly, the colour I would buy is still at full price. Even more annoyingly, they were all at a discounted price recently and I missed that ... I'll have to be patient. Anyway, it's not my birthday for a few months. The travel case is tempting as I do like to take a few watches on holiday (we go by car so space isn't an issue) and my burgeoning g-shock collection doesn't fit well in a watch roll. Yes, I know that's a "first world problem"!

That looks great @JAFO - I've got a Rothwell travel box that holds five watches and it's great.

I actually just ordered one of these as they were 70% off at Amazon:

A 'watch deck Pro' - no idea where I'm going to put it, but I like the idea of having a few watches on display :lol:

My son said, why not wait for Amazon Prime day, but they are hardly going to get even cheaper, are they?

I really need to get a decent watch box.

Since I got rid of my CW box some years ago, I've never replaced it with anything decent.

Hope you don't mind me updating this topic @JAFO, but I returned from holiday and my new watch 'box' was delivered yesterday, so thought I'd share a quick picture:

Very happy with it - it looks like a great way to display a few watches - the top is perspex, rather than glass (which suits me - I had a watch box delivered with a smashed glass top a while ago and it really put me off a box with a glass window in it - terrified my kids or cats would smash them to bits!)

I should probably include the link for anyone interested while these are still on sale: https://amzn.eu/d/09GoqjM4 (UK link, but they definitely sell in the US and other locations too)

@Stif
I thought it was £15.99 (which would have been a great price), but that was a different box. This one's rather more than that, I see.

By the way, No 1 son said I don't need to wait until my birthday, and I should starting filling the blue box. :D

Yes, it was £30 with the 'vegan leather' pads or £20 without - which definitely feels like a fair price (the originally list price of £100 seems a bit steep though!)

Looking forward to seeing some pictures once you've started to fill it! Rothwell make some really nice boxes :)

It was £100, possibly plus VAT in the link you just posted. I saw 15.99 at the top, but that was a different box, which I didn't realise. The 99.99 was at the bottom.

Edit. There's a big reduction if you sign up to prime, but we already have prime.

@gwells

If only. Unlike yourself and Liam Neeson, I don't have a particular set of skills.

I was thinking of buying another, which my wife vetoed. I just had another look, and saw the £64.99 ones have now doubled in price, so they're all £130. Maybe they will come down next week for Prime Day.

if you buy one already refurbished, the only skill needed is a fuller wallet. :) and there are smaller ones than the one i got, which is a bit of a beast. but i totally get it.

I bet there'll be a 'Prime Day exclusive deal' at £64.99! :problem:
