In the words of...

Post by tikkathree »

Who remembers Fife Robertson from the early days of documentary tv? Every week he'd open with "I'm speaking to you tonight...."
Well for the first time in my life I'm speakin' to you tonight from a hospital bed! Asthma on top of a snotty chest cold apparently turned to chest infection. My darling wife dragged me here about ten o'clock last night.

I'm fortunate enough to be able to grumble quietly about the noise level in an A&E ward and the sheer discomfort of the trolley. I might be here another day.

I'm doing a lot of people watching and I'm sure that candid photos are out of the question.

All I've got for company is a San Martin :(

Get well soon Pete! It's not much fun doing reportage from a hospital bed, but this is a private place where you can share stories about the people in the bed opposite you. We'll not tell - honest!

Hoping your visit to A&E is a relatively short one and that you're home soon with medications etc., Pete.

In the meantime, a good (sad, really) game to play is 'Spot the Police Officer'. Hopefully, not too many around on a Monday morning compared to Saturday night. :-k :-k

The staff are indeed excellent but I want to lift their coffee-making skills far above "hot brown"

And now we're home again. Dosed up with all kinds of potions and under a clear mandate from the consultant to my wife with just a gentle nod in my direction: do not go out this week, not to the letter box, do not go for brisk walks in the country, do not go out on deer management duties. His view is that what we've been describing as asthma for more years than I can remember might actually be masking some lung damage so it'll be back for a "deep scan" in a couple of months.

To celebrate I have cast off the San Martin and worked my Twelve over the big absorbent pad where the cannula was fitted.

I knew I could rely on this lovely forum to lift my spirits so I thank you one and all for your kind thoughts and words, bless you.

That brilliant Pete.

Now behave and take care of yourself. The sun is nice, but the wind is pretty biting in East Anglua at the moment.
