We all know that Lindsey, over the past 9 years you’ve been on the forum I reckon you have purchased about 100 hundred watches, now unless you have a different sales platform that you sell your watches on, I think you have sold 4. So that means you have 96 watches    :escape:

@kiter65 Going by the old apothegm that one never asks a lady her age, I’m sure we could come up with an adaptation.

I sell them on Watchfinder. No wait…. I FIND them on Watchfinder. They didn’t tell me you can sell them there too… :problem:

And you forgot the doom cupboard. There are a few in there that never see the light of day. I think they value at about 50p so eBay fees make selling pointless. Come on - everyone has a doom cupboard, no???

Well, 50 is the new 20. Years, that is. And my watch box is the new three-watch-every-base-covered collection

A few years ago Mrs nbg asked me how many watches I had.

I asked her to guess. Her answer was “about a dozen”.

I thought “excellent news, I only have about ten, I will buy a couple more”. :)

I’ve only own three watches.

I also have some watches that are “on hire” however the “hire” cost just happens to be roughly the same as the cost it would have been to have purchased them.

When the time comes to terminate the “hire” arrangement I will simply let someone else take over in exchange for giving me the “hire” cost.

Now, I don’t have a soulmate who would fetch me a metaphorical skelp across the bonce with the rolling pin of disapproval were she to get wind of the true extent of my collection.

Nevertheless, when people who know I collect watches ask this question, I tend to vacillate and dissemble. Because, apart from those encountered in the course of my decenary sojourn in this illustrious Curia, I don’t know anyone who is interested in watches. Not friends, not family, not colleagues.

Am I unique in being adrift in the Philistine Sea, or do others find themselves in a similar situation?

I have a friend who is way more interested in bikes and building them even than I am watches. But I’ve been obsessed by watches for longer than he has bikes. So I win. I’ve given him a watch in the past that he wears as a one watch. He has never given me a bike… But recently he told me that he had to try and source a piece to repair his watch bracelet clasp, and reckoned he was well down the watchie rabbit hole and now looking at buying an old Breitling and refurbishing it
 [-X

Back off! I told him - this is MY rabbit hole  I couldn’t have coped with being mansplained to about watches, by someone I introduced to watches
