Help from the forum required!

Just for a bit of fun…

Mrs TB and I are expecting Baby TB in a number of weeks now. And as I sat (obviously concentrating intently) in the birthing class tonight, a very important question entered my mind: “With which watch am I going to time the contractions?!”

So out come the chronographs (obviously the only serious contenders for such a task, right?). And I would love the forum’s assistance in helping me decide.

I won’t specify the criteria by which you may choose to vote (be it movement reliability/accuracy, legibility, simply preferring the watch etc.) Options are L-R top row then bottom row. Sorry, I don’t yet own a CW chronograph…

Look forward to seeing the results!

The pink Tudor is the obvious choice if you know the baby will be a girl.

The timeless Zenith gets my vote ( Moonwatch is too easy of a default option)

BTW brilliant collection of chronographs !

Amazing collection and best wishes to you and Mrs TB for the new arrival - when is the baby due?

Now, the important decision, I've voted for the Swatch, it strikes me as just right - primary colours, fun and not too serious but still does what you need it to do!

EDIT: my vote isn't registering for some reason on the poll but the Swatch it would be

For such a momentous occasion there can be only one choice.

It was good enough for Swigert to time the mid-course DPS burn on Apollo 13, and it will see you through.

Biased? Of course I am! 8)

Best wishes to you both for your happy event.

I have voted for the hesalite.

A further thought…

On a couple of occasions I have managed to agree with an AD that they will provide me with a particular watch, in time to mark a significant event. Don’t miss the opportunity. There is still time to pay a visit to the AD of another of your favourite brands, explain your predicament and ask if they have a chronograph lurking in their safe that you could have. :)

Fingers crossed for a smooth, safe and comfortable delivery, especially so for baby and mum. You'll just have to keep out of the way, not faint or vomit, I think the odd silly question might go down well and see if you can remember to use the pushers in the right order.

I think I'd be looking to take a rattrapante and being fully sure how to use it:-)

Wow, where to start. Congratulations on the imminent arrival and best of health to your wife and new child, it's been the biggest privilege of my life to marry a wonderful woman and have 3 amazing children. Best of luck to you, those early days are an adjustment but I'm sure you will excel in your new environment.
Right, firstly your wife is the perfect match, all those chronos alone must mean she is very easy going and understanding. 😆.
Next, timing contractions! Once it kicks off you'll quite possibly be running around in a state of exhilaration and anticipation, all plans will be forgotten and thrown out the window. Although, that never happened to me of course. 😳😜.
Nbg also beat me to the jump, this is a great opportunity to purchase a watch, imagine handing over that piece to them explaining this was to celebrate their birth. I wasn't in to watches when my were born but I wish I had been.
Finally, just enjoy it all. It's hard, it's testing sometimes but I just always found it to be a gift and an honour to be called Dad.
I miss my kids being little...... sometimes. 😁.
Best wishes
Pat
Oh, I voted for the hesalite. An iconic watch for an iconic and monumental moment in your personal history deserves only the best.

Congratulations. I hope all goes well. I voted for the sapphire moonwatch. I can just see a new white dial speedy fitting the occasion though. :D

Thanks Rich. We’re due late November, and I see one vote for Swatch so I think it came through!

A great idea Neil and one we have already actioned. In our case we have actually bought a watch for safekeeping that we can gift to them on their 18th birthday.

Let’s hope we don’t get down to 14 seconds between contractions

As an aside, the relatively recent Apollo 13 documentary on Netflix is quite good.

I won't offer a suggestion, merely a cautious tale.

I chose to wear my CW C7 Bluebird when my eldest was born (one of only a couple of watches I owned in what were much simpler times!). I'll never forget the feeling I had when I held him for the first time... and he decided to mark the occasion with his first poo, all over the watch.

Nine years later and he thinks it's a hilarious anecdote and it comes up whenever I put on the C7.

Seems like an opportune time to get a flyback chrono into the collection! Maybe a Hanhart 417!
