Re: F1 2021 Motorsport Thread
^^^^ Agreed, Jon.
I'd forgotten, until my son reminded me, that F2 is back racing this weekend and next. Could be interesting.
As to the track, my son has 'driven' it on the PlayStation F1 game and says the whole track with fast, sweeping left / right sections and heavily banked Turn 13, is totally addictive to drive.

Well I'm listening on the radio, but I must say I hope Lewis wins the championship, and the stewards take a serious look at verstappen.
Re: F1 2021 Motorsport Thread
Not a Hamilton fan but I hope he wins this, Absolute NO respect for MV or Horner...played dirty all season

Re: F1 2021 Motorsport Thread
Max and Red Bull need to take a serious look at themselves and their conduct. Win at all costs does not have a place in top flight motorsport.
Hopefully a grid drop for Max at the next race. The mentality of "not our fault" is obscene.

Max drives like he's on the PlayStation and is never wrong - his team don't help because they encourage and defend his antics.

It wasn't just F1, the F2 races were the same, the track is totally unsuitable for top flight racing. How did it get signed off for racing by the F.I.A., the carnage was forecasted before the races, it was obvious it was going to be a problem. They have a few months to make changes to the track to try to solve these issues, but it isn't obvious how.

Re: F1 2021 Motorsport Thread
Horner likened it to the first sector at suzuka but with walls which seems fairly accurate, but the relentless nature of the numerous corners and lack of availability of space and extremely high speeds (vastly different to most of not all other street circuits) make a real problem for future races.ziphos wrote: ↑Sun Dec 05, 2021 10:05 pmTotally agree.what-time-is-it wrote: ↑Sun Dec 05, 2021 7:35 pm Great track, dangerous track and not suitable for F1 imho.

Even in F2 this track showed just how dangerous it is at the speeds driven in F2 and even more so in F1. The number of stoppages in the F1 race didn't surprise me after seeing the F2 carnage, indeed the only surprise for me was that so many F1 cars actually finished and that somebody wasn't injured more seriously.
I'm not sure Max actually handed the lead back 3 times but then TBH I lost understanding of when he did or didn't hand it back. I don't think we have full knowledge of the "driven into" event yet and he certainly didn't hand the lead back on that occasion as he soon accelerated quickly away ahead of Lewis.
Max is even more "Marmite" now as can be seen by the opinions on here and him being voted Driver of the Day

The stupid thing is that he doesn't need to be like that as he is (or can be) a brilliant driver that makes full use of the attributes of his car and can spot gaps to overtake others in an appropriate manner.

Re: F1 2021 Motorsport Thread
Max is lucky to get away with only a 10s race time penalty for over 2g's of sudden braking. That behaviour is a no-no even at club karting level!

Re: F1 2021 Motorsport Thread
Lucky indeed.
I have a feeling that we've not heard the last of this and Lewis's assertion that "He brake tested me" is somewhat vindicated.
Whilst there are no doubt those who will feel that Max should be given a greater penalty, that would drop him back a position or two, handing a points advantage to Lewis going into the final race next week; it cannot be more finely balanced with Max and Lewis on equal points.
Roll on next weekend.

Re: F1 2021 Motorsport Thread
Absolutely, I just hope Max's comment after the race of "I have more wins" hints at his mentality of how to approach the final race. He could both win and be disqualified from the championship in the same day!
