Re: F1 2019 Motorsport Thread
Kimi out of the pits, onto the track.... and into the gravel at turn 5. Red flag.
Ah its good to have F1 back, even if it's just testing.

Agreed that is not a good sign for the season to come

Could be worse though....18 car pile up in the Daytona 500 yesterday, at least no-one was hurt.

Re: F1 2019 Motorsport Thread
Totally agree, watched it last night and all I knew in advance was that Piquet was involved in a crash.
Good racing and better for being on a slightly wider track - although still too many chicanes for my liking. Good to see teams guessing when the safety car was going in and getting it wrong and cars running out of energy on the last lap - chaos!
How di Grassi missed Wehrlein on the race to the flag - great reactions.
Over to you F1...

A very sad state of affairs for Williams,
I'll be amazed if they are still in F1 in a couple of years time. They've (Frank) not helped themselves in recent years about showing little flexibility with using standardised parts to save money and/or voting against customer teams.

Re: F1 2019 Motorsport Thread
I suspect the Rich Energy deal falling through, then having to choose Kubica to bring his sponsorship money on board, delayed their investment in this season. Hopefully the car is a good one, just late coming out of the autoclave!

Autosport suggesting Lowe's role is being questioned and that the 2019 car may not be as good as they'd hoped.
Don't get me wrong, I take no pleasure in seeing Williams and McLaren at the back of the grid.

Re: F1 2019 Motorsport Thread
#whereisted - anyone else notice that Ted Kravitz was missing from the SkyTV coverage of testing, last week?
Nothing official or confirmed but seems like he has been dropped from the presentation team.
Shame, I liked his Notebook features.

Such a shame, Ted's Notebook was more often than not the highlight of the race weekend.

Re: F1 2019 Motorsport Thread
Disappointing if true, Chandhok is no Kravitz and wasn't missed when he was previously dropped by Sky imho. In saying that he seemed ok in the testing roundups this week.
If Ted has gone I'm sure he'll be snapped up by either F1 or another media outlet - their gain, Sky's loss.

Re: F1 2019 Motorsport Thread
It’s looking increasingly like a personality clash with Sky’s F1 head honcho is involved.
The thing is, not all ex-drivers have something interesting to say - Nico Rosberg a prime example. Ted was from the real world, and therefore people could relate to him...if he’s not there, it will be a shame - just search for the #findTed hashtag on Twitter to see how it has been ‘received‘ even if not official
