Seven of the F1 teams are not taking this lying down and have issued a statement denouncing the FIA's conduct.what-time-is-it wrote:FIA (Ferrari International Assistance) reaches settlement with Ferrari over its 2019 engine...![]()
If you've done nothing wrong, why would you need to reach a settlement.
Statement is here

Re: F1 2020 Motorsport Thread
Interesting development and wholy correct. In which other sports would a public complaint to the governing body result in a confidential settlement between the body and the subject team with no transparency.
Its like a court case where the judge says, Im not going to disclose if the accused was guilty or not guilty as we've come to a private arrangement...

It would have been 9 out of the ten teams had they not been Ferrari customers.

Re: F1 2020 Motorsport Thread
FIA response...
"The FIA has conducted detailed technical analysis on the Scuderia Ferrari Power Unit as it is entitled to do for any competitor in the FIA Formula One World Championship.
"The extensive and thorough investigations undertaken during the 2019 season raised suspicions that the Scuderia Ferrari PU could be considered as not operating within the limits of the FIA regulations at all times.
"The Scuderia Ferrari firmly opposed the suspicions and reiterated that its PU always operated in compliance with the regulations.
"The FIA was not fully satisfied but decided that further action would not necessarily result in a conclusive case due to the complexity of the matter and the material impossibility to provide the unequivocal evidence of a breach.
"To avoid the negative consequences that a long litigation would entail especially in light of the uncertainty of the outcome of such litigations and in the best interest of the Championship and of its stakeholders, the FIA, in compliance with Article 4 (ii) of its Judicial and Disciplinary Rules (JDR), decided to enter into an effective and dissuasive settlement agreement with Ferrari to terminate the proceedings.
"This type of agreement is a legal tool recognised as an essential component of any disciplinary system and is used by many public authorities and other sport federations in the handling of disputes.
"The confidentiality of the terms of the settlement agreement is provided for by Article 4 (vi) of the JDR.
"The FIA will take all necessary action to protect the sport and its role and reputation as regulator of the FIA Formula One World Championship."

McLaren withdraws from the Australian GP - team member confirmed to have Coronavirus.
4 Haas team members who had symptoms have had negative test results.
F1 should delay the season until May in my opinion.

Yes, cancel Australia and Bahrain. Vietnam and China already cancelled. Start the season in May at the Dutch GP.

Vietnam not officially cancelled (yet), with tickets still on sale. https://tickets.formula1.com/en/f1-42917-vietnam
BBC's Andrew Benson mentions 2 Haas staff also positive and has real concerns for the F1 community that could be stranded in OZ. Article now updated stating they are negative.

Tickets for Vietnam may still be on sale, but no visas are being permitted... which suggests its not far away from being cancelled/postponed.

Re: F1 2020 Motorsport Thread
Autosport suggesting F1 season may not start until Baku in June.
With the Australian Grand Prix having already been officially cancelled, the sport's chiefs are expected to confirm imminently that next weekend's Bahrain GP and the following event in Vietnam will now be postponed.
Vietnam's situation has also become untenable amid strict new travel restrictions that have been put in place as a result of the country's efforts to try to contain the coronavirus outbreak
But with growing indications that the global pandemic is only going to get worse in Europe over the next few weeks, F1 is now bracing itself for also calling off the Dutch, Spanish and Monaco Grands Prix.
