I just had an ebay notification that there are now no selling fees other than for Cars and business seller.
Anyone else seen this?

I don't know if it's just temporary, but it doesn't seem so.

Just got that email too. To me it suggests it is a permanent change. Good news for keeping prices down if buying and proceeds up if selling.

The standard rate was about 10% wasn't it? That's a big chunk out of the price.

It was 12.8%, but then a further "regulatory tax" was also being applied. A very significant chunk on watches.

It's a very welcome move, but then it had to happen because eventually most people would be selling outside of Ebay on the likes of Vinted, Depop etc.

And for info, I've been in touch and Ebay CS confirmed earlier that the fee exemption also applies to existing listings that sell from today.

Man you gotta be kidding me. I sold a watch like a week ago and wept bitter tears when I remembered the cut eBay takes.

Hopefully that will discourage those "private sellers" who have hundreds of items for sale, including multiples of the same item. Personally, I never buy from them though.

Two (open) questions;-

1. Why has eBay found it necessary to introduce this 'no fees for private sellers', and

2. Will buyers be asked to pay a fee, as is done on Vinted?

Just made my first offer under the new regime. Who knows. Jewellery, nit a watch. Not auto rejected, so who knows.

AFAIK, it's just an Ebay UK thing atm. Although it has rolled out in a few other countries, so keep an eye out. I really didn't make sense there

What I meant was that it was trialled in Germany and they found it drove numbers up, so expect to see it rolled out across more countries.
