My sincere condolences and best wishes to Kevin's family at this sad time. I only knew Kevin through the forum but I got a real sense of his character as - among many qualities - a decent, kind and caring man. His resoluteness and honesty in his approach to terminal illness as he wrote here was nothing short of inspirational, and I'm sure his family saw this bravery in all the things he did in his life, as I felt I saw here. Bravo,Kevin - rest in peace.

I have often wondered about how to deal with the passing of those we get to know via the internet in various ways. I've dreaded this scenario, but my fears have become reversed. We can donate to wonderful organisations such as this hospice (they are wonderful as they are caring and dignified) - but Guy, you gave something more valuable than that to Kevin - you gave your time.
So I wish I was James Bond, just for the day.

I have only just found this.
Kevin was on our prayer list at work: I am an infrequent visitor these days and didn’t pick up the news.
May he rest in peace
And rise in glory.

I haven't been on the forum for a week or so as my baby son has been quite unwell so it is with a really heavy heart that I hear Kevin has passed away.

My sincere condolences and best wishes to Jan and Victoria and the rest of your family & friends, I hope Kevin is resting in peace and that you remember and celebrate the good times you had together.

As a friend of Kevin's, he asked me some time ago if I would help his wife, Jan, with selling a few items of his watch paraphernalia.

This I naturally agreed to do.

There will therefore, shortly, be a few items appearing in the Sales Corner, the proceeds for which will be donated to Charity.

Please keep a watch out.

Thread Resurrection Alert

It is somewhat over two years ago since this thread was started, at a time when our long standing Forum Member, Kevin_b1, was under Hospice Care for the final days of his life in Garden House Hospice. Since Kevin's bereavement I have kept in touch with his wife and family and Jan, his wife, works these days as a volunteer for Garden House Hospice helping organise their eBay shop.

We are clearly now, with Covid-19, in very different, strange and uncertain times, which have affected us all in many different ways, not least of which is the ability of Charities to continue their normal fundraising activities.

Whilst the UK Government has pledged funding and support Charities, including Garden House Hospice, have got a significant shortfall to make up (Garden House estimate this at £600,000 for this year).

Not surprisingly Garden House Hospice has raised an Urgent Coronavirus Appeal to raise funds to meet this shortfall. Donations are accepted from anywhere worldwide.

I fully appreciate that a number of forum members must find themselves in difficult circumstances, perhaps being furloughed workers or owners of small businesses with little income and uncertain futures. Additionally, we have all, I'm sure, got a Charity or two that have a special meaning to us and whom we support.

Nevertheless, may I ask that you give what you are able to, in memory of Kevin Bucknell.
