One of very few models from the brand that have other than a plain caseback.

I do love your Ingenieur, it’s probably one of he best of them in my opinion. Not seen the back before but the blue Laureus face is definitely IWCs best colour with all the Laureus watches.

Thanks. I must admit the case back is a bit odd, featuring a drawing from a young person. This is the 2011 VC Ingenieur Laureus:

IWC 323310 8.jpg

I reckon they are watches best viewed from the front.

As for the colour, I think they've used a few shades of blue but all of them are pretty nice. At one time I had the idea to try to build a sub-collection of IWC Laureus LE's, but I think the ship has now sailed as it would cost a small fortune.

I don’t think any IWC without a display back would ever win any award for being good looking. They’re not far off Rolex in the rear case design stakes.

I do wonder when buying or not, a caseback influences the decision.

It certainly influences mine; it’s one factor of many. A delicious caseback, or more often for me, an eye-catching exhibition variety, adds another tick on the evaluation checklist.
