Buying a vintage Piaget - who wants to split it with me?

Post by NationOfLaws »

I came across this vintage Piaget owned by Roy of Siegfried & Roy and I gotta have it. Who wants to go in on it with me? We can split custody like my parents did with me - you get every other weekend and the full month of July for some reason.

That's not as expensive as I feared it might be; notwithstanding I think its ghastly.

Oh c’mon, it has Roy’s face printed right on the dial. What’s not to like?

That watch looks like it’s had quite a mauling. Might need to take a Cape Cod cloth to it.

Too soon?

Were I only that skilled at engraving 😉

But really, a GPF time gage already has my soul all in it. My handsome face is not necessary...

But maybe other body parts?? 👍

Haha right on! Anything is better than Roy’s face staring up at me whenever I check the time. Sorry Jameson, this means I’m out…

Why isn’t the seller auctioning this through a big watch auction? I don’t really understand. Roy of Seigfried and Roy wore a gold one-off piaget with his face on the dial? It couldn’t be more splendid and fitting. And super-gaudy. The Siegfried and Roy story is absolutely bonkers. Why sell one uproarious watch for a fixed price? This makes no sense! Where is his watch collection?

If I had the energy left in my weary bones I’d be chasing this story and tracking down the watches. Everyone wants to know about the tigers - I want to know about the watches!

Jameson - I can’t do it. But keep going. Find someone to coparent the watch with you. What a joy that would be! :D

Ten points to Gryffindor, but next time put the question first.

It has a certain 1970s porn-star quality.

This is fantastic! Unfortunately I could only enter into such an agreement if we also bought a tiger and matching tight trousers/very loose flamboyant shirts...

For anyone who’s interested, there was a film made about Siegfried and Roy called Wild Things. I found this article that pretty well captures the challenges of making a film about a story that’s already way larger than life  8)

@NationOfLaws You need to clear your browser history, immediately! This kind of searching could draw the attention of government agencies concerned about unhinged splinter groups. Keep an eye out for cars parked outside your property with shady looking passengers dressed in black.

I suppose it might appeal to a collector of the late Paul Daniels head rugs.
