British Watchmakers' Day - what's the haul?

Post by tikkathree »

British Watchmakers' today in London: I think my natural expectation is that those members of this forum who attended will have had a great time?

Who came away with what though?

I came away empty handed but the fiancée came away with a Farer Aurora on her wrist and a matching pink cap 😂 safe to say I think she is getting into the hobby…

I went with the intention to look, not buy. (Un) Fortunately, something I've had my eye on since the first render aired was available to view and to buy. I was unsure how well the colours would translate from the original renders, but Marloe did an excellent job, so came home with this:

I'm thinking that I remember fondly the Scuba Dude Vostok watches so the Lunadude must be the CW Moonphase BWD LE?

@tikkathree - I was offered, but declined, the CW Moonphase BWD LE. It's too small for me and besides I already have the original 40mm version.

However, I believe @biggus_richus bought #2 of the 25. I can't recall for sure, but believe it is due to be despatched from CW Towers #2.

For me I was able to secure the Elliot Brown Holton Auto GMT: XXV / X - 1 of 10 pieces. It has a couple of nice bits of detail with the '25' on the date wheel being in red and BWMD 2025 on the edge of the dial at 6.

Additionally, I placed a pre-order for a very special piece from a brand that I'm quite fond of, with delivery due in April/May; more details in due course.

Finally, after queuing for what seemed like an ago, probably around an hour, in position #101 for 100 pieces, with a few drop outs from the queue, I was able to buy a Studio Underd0g x Fears Gimlet for a friend who was not able to attend.

Blimey that’s a busy dial Guy

And to think some people don’t like the multiple lines of text on the dial of the Tudor Pelagos……

So, Guy, all in all a productive and successful day seems to have been had: excellent. Image Image

Living just 30-odd miles away, I earlier this year decided to sign up for the Cambridge-based Beaucroft experience and pre-ordered an Element in G&T colour dial which I plan to collect when it becomes available.

Image

I'm highly curious about this rather left field Mr Penfold dial version:

I do hope that I like them! Anyone who looked at/handled the Beaucroft Elements at BWD I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I’ve been outed!

Despite only joining the queue quite some way back at 09:30 I managed to land #002. Not quite sure that it’s for me, but I’ve long wanted a CW Moonphase, and if it’s not for me it will hopefully be a trouble-free sell.

@Bahnstormer_vRS is correct; CW didn’t take stock to the show, but stock is ready and waiting to ship.

I had a very thorough look at the Beaucroft Element. A was impressed and I can see one being in my collection soon. The artist collaboration dial is very good indeed too.
