I don't think this is just limited to car sales, bad service can be prevalent elsewhere and good service can also be had in car showrooms . I think part of the problem nowadays is that sales people who work for businesses aren't necessarily paid enough or trained properly and as such don't have sufficient buy-in to the products or people they are working for.

If you pay peanuts.........

I think you're absolutely right, it's just that a car is such a large purchase that it's these occasions that stick in your mind rather than the bad service you may have had at the corner shop!

It can sometimes be the other way around ...in store one morning my duty manager was a 22 year old very attractive young lady when a customer came in and asked to see the manager and told her to run along and fetch HIM because he had a problem with a drill he had brought  I didn't help the situation rolling around p%##%€g myself on the floor  but she remained very calm and helped him with his issue

I had totally the opposite experience at Mercedes in Finchley.
Me and my pal went in in our work clothes, Hoodies, combats and trainers. But we were treated with great enthusiasm by the young lady in there.

I was wearing a t-shirt, old jeans and trainers (my normal outfit these days) when I turned up to look at the Macans. Perfectly wonderful reception at the Porsche dealer. Similar thing with Jag and Skoda. The Jag guys were particularly good, as even when we made it clear that we were from a different city (we were on holiday) they were still really helpful. We were however, largely ignored by the BMW dealers though, at home or on holiday.
smegwina wrote:Oh, and rather than the porker, may I steer you towards the Levante. A cracking sports SUV. (Sorry Gary!) Although I am not sure there are too many dealers in NZ!
Wasn't out when we were looking, but there are no dealers in my part of Oz anyway... Based on our experience so far, I'd still buy the Macan anyway.

Called in at the York Skoda/SEAT dealer today - couldn't have been more helpful - Ateca remains on the possible list and have added the Kodiaq to the list for test drives.

DMKeith dealer - thoroughly nice people.

Blimey. Is it really just me or is there anyone else out there that finds the the idea of a priest whingeing on a public watch forum about customer service at a prestigious car dealership rather odd and distasteful? Perhaps his wife does 'buy expensive motor-cars' but, to me, this public flaunting of his or, at least, his wife's wealth is in poor taste.

Camels, needles and heaven anybody?

Erm, no, not distasteful to me. Should someone accept crap customer service or effectively suffer discrimination simply because they are a man of the cloth? Seems like they expect to be able to get away with it because they think he should do the Christian thing and just turn the other cheek.

If he has the money, why not have nice things, we don't expect sackcloth and ashes anymore.

There is absolutely no evidence provided that the poor customer service was related to his wearing of a dog collar.

Nobody (or at least me) is suggesting 'sackcloth and ashes' but some sensitivity in matters of wealth would seem to me to be appropriate in a man of God. Or do we now eschew all teachings in the Bible on the subject?

If you knew a little bit more about bspj you will know there is nothing 'odd' about his initial post.

He is simply using his personal experience to highlight the old adage "never judge a sausage by its skin" - no likeness between a sausage and bspj inferred or implied.
