Watches amaze me. They give physical substance to the sands of time ensuring that I never let the passing of this most valuable of commodities go unnoticed.
Wow! Line of the year?
Thanks, Steve. That may just be the most glowing remark I've ever received from a teacher. :D

Watches. I'm not too fussed by how accurate my mechanical watches are either.

Time marches on and waits for no man. We have no control over time. There again I am not too sure I have much control over my watch acquisition urges🤣
CW watch count - enough to keep me very happy, but always room for more!

As I used to say to the kids: everybody gets one of those a year. You just had yours.

I think mine is equal both.
Watches - well they’re little engines created by a kind of sum total of certain creative aspects of the human brain, that are designed to mark time (whatever that is) passing. And do it very accurately. I’m a bit compulsive about being places 10 minutes early (as floaty as my mind is on most things). As much as I love the endeavour and the mechanics and engineering of watches (and I really do) I also love setting my mind loose with the fact that on one small dial I can watch the sweep of the second hand to check in with small time, or (if I’m lucky one day) get expansive and follow moontime. I’m easily confounded in the world, so even if I don’t need a watch much, it’s my reliable tic toc that will beat time even while my head’s spinning.
I appreciate just having it there sometimes and would be lost without it.

Time - second-hand time; moon time; the fact that a minute has 60 seconds because of the Babylonians using a numerical system way more tricky than ours. Time as distance (longitude). Well, time doesn’t actually exist at all (says Einstein). Everything happens now…

What a brilliant question @magicman . My answer?
It’s everything :D

Also - @magicman - this helps me to calm the intense focus on not being late:

If you’re late, don’t worry, you’re already late
