Twitter's useful for following bands, great for getting the attention of people like Sky/BT etc for customer service, plus has its uses for musing over public opinion of something happening there and then.
Unfortunately, on top of all that there's the celebrity crap and generally angry people.
I tweeted Barclays because they used the word "less" instead of "fewer" in their mobile app which annoyed me (son of two teachers and all that). A couple of months later, they updated the offending label/button in the app to say "Show fewer accounts"

Twitter is utterly essential when watching Eurovision! The comments are hilarious.
Our Sony TV has a button that sends the twitter feed and hashtag feed for the programme you are watching across the bottom of the screen. Weirdly we use it loads!!!! Most of the comments are exactly what we are thinking, and many have me in hysterics.

Your Twitter feed should only be as bad as your choices of who to follow.

@rgb - could it be an age issue? There are probably those who don't know when to use an exclamation mark, those who can remember and those who have forgotten altogether.
FB is probably great for keeping up with friends in the four corners of the world but I would rather speak to friends and not publicise my every move.

Re: Follow the Christopher Ward Forum on Twitter
I'm using Instagram more frequently these days. I see CWL post every so often, but like other social media they're not using it very effectively to build brand awareness.

Agree, though you'd think a company that does most of its business on the internet would be a little more savvy in that regard...

...but for a company it's an art to get the right balance.Kip wrote:Keeping up with social media is a full time job.
Too much in my feed and I unsubscribe because it just looks like spam.
Too little and I wonder if the company has gone under, or just I forget about it.
It is a full time job though. Should have somebody on the payroll for this task. I find it's not something people can really do 'when not busy'. Also not social media but I notice some of the reviews on the CW website are hardly recent. IMO this may not inspire confidence to new customers.

Re: Follow the Christopher Ward Forum on Twitter
Twitter can be a handy method of REALLY attracting a company's attention, either to give praise, or to highlight a problem that hasn't been resolved. On my daughter's advice, I once tweeted a problem I had directly to a very well known shopping channel. I had an almost almost instantaneous response, and the problem was fully resolved within 24 hours.
Organisations, and individuals too, love good publicity and hate bad publicity. For good or ill, Twitter is a very immediate and public medium, the skill is how to use it effectively.
