Macca,
Ignore this, to be invited, just keep posting, a bit of constructive criticism is fine, along with a large degree of flexibility, just like life.Just don't flame anyone or start pointless arguments (or polls) and don't threaten to leave unlss you mean it :D

Seriously though, Chris will invite other members of the forum to contribute their thoughts and experience, but at this first forum I think a bit of 'experience' was in order, I'd say that between us there must have been close to 1,500 watches worth of experience :D
Oh jesus.. I have argued with at least one person since joining and my poll about the average age of CW owners had no point other than my curiosity... and in my house there are only 10 cw watches..that's me out then!
Interesting... and potentially useful to CWL themselves I should think ;-)

Rob is right. I hardly reckon I qualify as a die-hard fanboy, having bought 4 CWs and sold 3 of them - don't think I ever will unless they make more sub-40mm men's watches, either. Unfortunately I couldn't go owing to a work commitment I couldn't get out of fairly. Nice to have been asked, though, and I would have loved to meet Chris, Kip and the rest. :(

Appropriate really given that the Night Garden is a dream of Iggle Piggle's... or perhaps the NG is his reality and the world with the boat is the dream. Either way, the whole thing is very Zen given that the only way to transit from one to the other is to stop traveling.

Cirrus,
So that's why you didn't get an invite then? Cos you're a lightweight!

Nah,

Keep plugging away, if you really want to get involved do as Andy (Village) did, he organised both Middle England GTGs, guests of honour at both have been Chris & Wera, however it's safe to say that the first was a GTG with lunch guests from CWL, the second was a focus group with drinks :D

Just getting a group of enthusiastic watch owners together in one room is a bit like herding cats, but much more fun. The shared experiences, the discovery that you're not the only one that doesn't rate Rolex, the fact that someone else likes a long Pastis. These are just 3 of the reasons we Get ToGether.

So next April seems a good time. where are we gonna meet?

That wasn't my quote... I quoted it from earlier but my phone seems to have handled it badly :-)

When Andy organised the first GTG a while back I asked about posting pictures and the general concession that pictures of people should not be used without their consent. Pictures of watches and beer are fine.

Were there a lot of former spies at the focus group? Is that why no-one wants their identity revealed?

Die hard fanboys! What a laugh. I only have 2 CWs and I'm there, sat opposite Kip!

This started out, as mentioned above, as a simple GTG by village to show off our collections and talk about watches and stuff. A forum without keyboards if you like and with less flaming! :).

Village put a lot of work and effort organising this and without him it wouldn't of happened as it did. In fact the first invite to a GTG in the south was public on the forum so all had the opportunity to say it they were interested in attending. It then evolved along the way!

We were lucky to hear JJ explain the evolution of the Monopusher and meet Chris and the team. Plus i don't think anyone ever expected CW to pick up the bill for dinner either!

If i remember correctly, some of the things that were discussed were:

New features that are wanted
Packaging
Presentation boxes
Loyalty club
Ladies models
Making CW two tier with MP/JH in the first tier and quartz fashion jobbies in the second
Logos!

This was my first ever GTG which was appropriate as CW was the first Forum I ever joined!

I thought this was a invite only business led and organised focus group rather than a forumite organised open invite gtg? Both are equally valid and no doubt enjoyable but shouldn't be represented as the same thing. Oh and being a fanboy isn't about how many you own or buy, otherwise with over 20 CW's i'd certainly be one, it's the unswerving loyalty in the face of glaring issues and problems that sometimes happen and the refusal to accept opposite opinions.

Tyke,
It started out as a GTG, but when it became apparent that a special overseas Forummite was gong to be in town at the same time as the GTG and so would be attending too that Chris suggested the change of purpose.

So if you'd signed up for the GTG you'd have been part of the Focus Group!
