I agree about the C5 size... i have pretty small wrists, and yet even I could stand to have it be a couple of mm larger.

I think the largest watch i would wear is about 41-42mm and feel comfortable with it. That said, the C5 does sit well on my arm, its not so much the watch i wish was larger, is the strap. Its a tad too thin, and i would have liked it if the C5 had had wider lugs and a 20mm strap

^^^ You're def right. I've felt the same way. It's kind of the way I view belts. I don't wear skinny belts. A wide belt is a workman's belt. A man's belt. That said, the C5 carries enough class to pull off the slender strap, which is why I don't have a problem wearing it. Plus, when I wear the C5, I'm usually surrounded by skinny belt wearers so it's not an issue.

A watch must be at least 40mm or it looks too small on me.

I love Nomos but they are only 35mm, would look like a women's watch if I wore one.

Plus can anyone supply some good excuses for the missus on why I should have/need these new models. I have run out

Sad to see people leaving, but there seems to be a whole lot of negativity flying about recently.
For me an auto C4 is going to be a must have... silver face... yummy!
Could be tempted by a 40mm C5, but would more likely fling some shekels at an auto C2 if on
ever surfaces - LE maybe?

I think something I'd like to see is more options. This is an internet based company so why not be able to customise things a little? I'm sure it'd probably create an admin nightmare, but that's the beauty of the internet. You can offer all the options without actually having to have them all on display like you would in a shop.

For example, the one option that springs to my mind, is the straps... People have different sized wrists, so why not start offering them in different lengths? Ship a regular sized one as standard unless someone wants smaller or larger. I can do it with the bespoke shirts I've ordered on the internet (yes I am that lazy - but they fit!) so why not with watches?

Personalisation. How about engraving on the movement? I know others, like JS Watch Co for example, offer this service. Heck, again with the shirt, I can get my initials on the cuffs if I want... so why not something similar on a watch?

Lastly, and purely because I'm running out of storage space, how about a "lite" box as opposed to the huge black box that comes with the watches now? Call the existing ones "presentation" boxes and sell lite ones at a lower cost. Offer the presentation ones for sale separately. Not so sure I need so many cleaning cloths either (never used any of them).

Just some thoughts...

Chris,
I couldn't agree more.
I've suggested offering a basic 'glasses case' type of travel case ,like the ones Luminox & Breitling give yo with their watches and have the gift box' as an extra cost item.

I sent my C6 LEs back to have it fixed and packed it well in a cardboard box, only to find it returned in another BIG box!

This option would also save them on the shipping costs.

I think the box is a great part of the overall presentation and a nice touch is the addition of the polishing cloth. I think that this adds a lot of class to the whole presentation along with the personalized letter fron Chris.

For the one or two time buyer which I would think makes up the majority of CWL's customers this has to have a positive affect and shows some class on the part of CWL.

That being said and as many of us own multiple CWL watches and are well familiar with the top drawer presentation....

Opinion questions.....just curious...

Do you think CWL should offer a more spartan option, perhaps for a slightly reduced price for those that request it?

Do any of you keep, or would you continue to take the current box due to the fact you collect watches or that a box of the current type may offer addition value should you sell or your heirs someday sell your collection?

Yes...can't do any harm and it sounds like there would be some take up

I personally keep all boxes and documentation on any watch i buy...that said,in some cases i wouldn't expect to sell on eg C6 - i bought it as a long term beater and intend to wear it into the ground!

Hmmm, Do the powers that be have any clues as to when this may happen? Wanting to order a C4 as soon as there is a little room on the Credit card, and wouldnt want to get the 'old' version :D

Then again, it would give me a excuse to buy another one if they were updated :)

I am afraid it is to soon to tell when or even if this will happen. As noted in the lead post these are items that are all under discussion this month at CWL. Hopefully when some decisions are finalized we will get a heads up.

I recommend the following (reword appropriately for your relationship):

"But Darling, half the reason the economy's in the mess it is is because people aren't spending money. Obviously, reckless spending is bad, but carefully considered, affordable discretionary spending is more important than ever... I mean, just imagine if people stopped buying the {widgets/who-ja-ma-flips/thingies} my company makes! In fact, you should go ahead and buy that {handbag/pair of shoes/other expensive and totally unjustifiable trinket} that you wanted!"

This should work well. But watch out for the following:

1. (response) "Are you saying you'll let me buy the {handbag/pair of shoes/other expensive and totally unjustifiable trinket} that you want if I let you have your watch?"

2. (effect) Sudden large 'discretionary spending' appearing on your joint bank account when your advice about the economy is taken to heart

Okay, not news in itself but I recently emailed Chris to thank him for the service received recently (I'd be quick enough to complain so I figure it works the other way round too) and I asked him about the Valjoux after reading it on here...
One question – do you have any plans to produce a watch with a Valjoux 7750? I only ask as I’ll be saving my pennies for this one!
[chris] yes we do...watch that space....:)
I hope that wasn't priveleged...as if I wouldn't share it with you guys!! At least we can deduce from that that something is definately on it's way...

as for the box issue

if you break down the construction of the box, and figure it out... it really probably costs them next to nothing to have them made. If they are done in great bulk (which i suspect they are) then i'd be surprised if each box cost them more than £1.

I think id rather know £1 of my watch was going on a nice solid well made box for it to arrive in, and one that makes it feel a bit special to open.
