Re: Christopher Ward becomes Everton's Official Global Timing Partner
I think that many are confusing being a "fan" or "personal supporter" of Everton, or any sports affiliation for that matter, with a sports partnership agreement. There are many different arrangements that can be made with sports clubs.
In this case it is an advertising and marketing arrangement.
"Through the partnership, Christopher Ward branding will appear on official Everton channels and assets, including backdrops and LED screens at Goodison Park on match days. Christopher Ward will create money-can’t-buy experiences for Evertonians and Christopher Ward fans, and work with the club’s award-winning charity, Everton In The Community."
While I am sure that a watch may appear at some point sporting the Everton logo, I would suspect that it would be a limited edition of some sort. This is quite different from the arrangement that Tribus had with Liverpool which was (primarily) to be able to produce watches featuring the Liverpool logo and the use of said logo in advertising. CW is getting global exposure.
While it is certain that Mike France is an Everton fan, there is no doubt that this is a business decision. While many of us dislike the interruptions of ads to our programs/events etc., advertising is about impressions.... and it works. I am sure that CW will be tracking closely the results of this arrangement to determine the cost effectiveness to the business.

As an American, you might not be aware that Everton (as well as Chelsea) have been in the news a lot recently for all the wrong reasons - Russian money.

A draw? We're actively planning for a draw? That's the problem with modern footie, too much shillyshallying

Re: Christopher Ward becomes Everton's Official Global Timing Partner
I must admit this new sponsorship deal with Everton is a bit of a surprise and slightly bizarre given the Tribus Liverpool deal (crazy money for a start up and so it proved). I’m not really sure how CW will leverage this although I guess it should increase their exposure. The jury is out on this from my perspective.

Re: Christopher Ward becomes Everton's Official Global Timing Partner
^^^ Sponsorship is just another form of advertising isn't it? Although with a perks for the sponsor, which I'm sure MF will enjoy. It's just my opinion, but I can't help but feel that CW should include the word "watches" or similar in their branding for the sponsorship as the "twin flags Christopher Ward" alone won't resonate with the majority of people seeing it.

Some of that falls on CW doesn't it? I mean you see the Rolex crown all over sporting events and everyone knows what that means because of the work Rolex put in to make it that way. I see this as only a single piece in the overall picture and not the sole solution.

Re: Christopher Ward becomes Everton's Official Global Timing Partner
I missed it on my first read. There is an offer of a trip to the US to watch Everton training, and playing a warm-ups, and presumably more besides. Submit names as per the link, and the winner will be drawn. I'm not sure whether you caught that or not. Get in the draw! In all seriousness, I don't think I can attend.tikkathree wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 1:07 pmA draw? We're actively planning for a draw? I don't imagine that Don Revie ever suggested to Leeds Unite that a draw would be acceptable.

Re: Christopher Ward becomes Everton's Official Global Timing Partner
When the cameras are next at Goodison, we can see the CW swish swerving mesmerically around the digital advertising hoardings like so many space invaders. I cant wait. Come on you blues! Something like that.

Re: Christopher Ward becomes Everton's Official Global Timing Partner
I’ve just seen the instagram post and can’t believe some of the negative comments linked to this post. Some people saying they’re going to sell their entire CW collection now, first I thought they were joking but I think they are being serious. It’s just an addition to their increasing list of advertising campaigns… for some, football and watches are really heated topics
