Chat with Chris 2016

Post by Kip »

I thought it would be a good idea if we had a chat with Chris and Mike regarding the recent rebranding and website upgrade. Chris and Mike agreed. They have generously offered their time again to spend with the forum and address your questions and concerns as well as to discuss some product info.

The "Chat with Chris 2016" will be held on Thursday June 9th. This was the earliest date we could put together, and still, Peter will be unavailable.

The chat will start at GMT 20:00 and will last for approximately 1 hour (we usually go longer).

This will be an open chat with no pre selected questions. If you are unable to attend the chat, you may post your questions here or pm them to me and I will make every effort to ask them when possible or at the most opportune time. Please try to have your questions to me by June 7.

I know that many of you have been extremely passionate regarding the re branding and website. It is my hope that all will remain calm and receptive, regarding these subjects, during the chat. All our prior chats have been very enjoyable, most informative and very well attended.

UK time is GMT +1 = 21:00 (9:00 pm)

EDT time is GMT -4 = 16:00 (4:00 pm)

For anyone that may be confused about the time zone...try this link.

http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/

We realize that the time will not suit everyone, but it really is the best we can do for the majority of time zones we cover as well as coordinating with the busy schedules.

I hope we see you all there.

The chat will be available via the "Mini-chat" link on the index page.

A transcript of the chat will be available and posted within a few days of the chat.

Thanks for getting this organised Kip.

Hopefully an entertaining and informative evening awaits us.

Probably worth, if anyone has not listened to it yet (which includes me), listening to the interview Mike France did with eggtronics (Josh) a couple of weeks ago, as a pre-cursor to the Chat.

I think it is commendable that they have decided to agree to this in light of the recent postings on here - I note that from CW it will be Mike & Chris in attendance, will the Hello people be joining in?

Thanks for arranging Kip and to Mike and Chris for their time. It's nice to see they clearly still do value the forum's input (which I never doubted). I hope all goes smoothly and people try to control their "passion".

This should be really interesting - thanks for organising.

I hope people refrain from being too negative about the recent branding change. It's an opportunity to better understand the future of CW, rather than talk about how it was initially presented to us.

I do expect to hear lots of references to "shock of the new" though

It is good that they want to do this. Thanks for letting us know, Kip.

It will be interesting to sit in and listen even if I have no questions.

Can I ask if Jorg Bader and/or Johannes Jahnke invited?

Based on last year's chat would it be worth getting at least a few pre-selected questions together beforehand? It becomes a but of a mad house otherwise

IIRC, in previous years (3 in my experience) there were a selection of pre-arranged questions for the first 20 mins or so and then 'open house'.

Kip/CWL have clearly opted for an 'open house' discussion this year.

+1 to that. I would like to find out what they are really thinking and planning not what we think they are planning.

My focus was on Mike, Chris and Peter. It is tough enough to nail down a date/time for them. Of course if Jorge and JJ wanted to stop by they are always welcome.

I see this as a good positive move. We only moan because we care about CW. I think out of all the moaning and complaining that should be the overriding focus of it all.
