She paid for it in the first place, so no worries there.

Re: NATO Leather Straps from Redux & Co

This looks really good.

Keep us posted on how it holds up. I picked up a leather NATO in the cheap, and it didn’t hold up well at all. I suppose that’s to be expected with something inexpensive.

If these age well, I’ll look into one.

Re: C63 Scratched Lug

You might get this scratch out, but what about the next one, or the one after that? I try to avoid them, but it’s inevitable. After the initial anguish over the first ding or scratch, I feel relieved and less worried about babying it. I try to change my mindset and look at the marks as a scar won i...

You’ve got a wonderful collection of watches that just kill it with the 70s vibe. They always bring a smile to my face when you post them.

Like everything in the ol’ World Wide Web, do your research, apply some common sense, and trust your own judgement. I take everything on the internet with the appropriate grain of salt.

Re: Of all your watch photographs

I can understand the nature of your closing question, given the creativity of many of your photos. Mine, however, rarely live up that level of creativity. I save very few. If there’s anything appealing about some of the photos I take of my watches, it’s do to judicious use of the editing software an...

Re: If not watches, what would your weakness be?

I saw and fell in love with this original Air France poster from 1947 by Lucien Boucher. The original was ridiculous money, but luckily I found a reproduction. As an added bonus, I was able to get it in a larger size than the original. This horribly lit pic does not do it justice. 556EE248-C608-484C...

Wonderful, aren’t they? Reminiscent of an era when travel was more enjoyable and life was more simple. In my case, images like this one have A GREAT DEAL to answer for. That’s a gorgeous poster! I wish I’d been alive for the golden age of air travel and when travel by rail was a more elevated...

Same for me. My roommate wound up tending bar there, so I was there 24/7. It was nice being recognized when I walked in for years afterwards. It’s still where we all go when visiting school.

Re: Where Everybody Knows Your Name, Tales from your Local Pub

Having grown up in the suburbs in the 80s, the “local pub” didn’t exist. I can’t imagine growing up in a neighbourhood without a pub. My local pub was the centre of the community a hive of activity from the organised pub football team to where you met your future partner. In fact, it’s where I met ...

Re: Where Everybody Knows Your Name, Tales from your Local Pub

Wonderful post, Richard! Having grown up in the suburbs in the 80s, the “local pub” didn’t exist. My parents grew up in New York City, so I’m quite familiar with the concept. My dad tells stories of being sent by his grandmother to the corner bar to pick up cartons of draft beer for her! He was prob...
