UPDATE: My 10yo C8 has stopped working

I sent my C8 back in a pre-paid envelope on Wednesday, CW received it yesterday and I've just received an email quoting £165 for a repair.

I'm impressed with the quick turnaround so far. I've paid and now 8 to 10 weeks for the job to be done.

Re: Bremont to open 3 new 'boutiques'...

After their mess up about in-house movements after their Wright Flyer release they would have to make it absolutely clear this is "in-house". With their move into The Wing now would certainly seem to be the right time. I expect it will be very expensive!! Good luck to them. I'll be looking...

Re: My 10yo C8 has stopped working

I think the problem is that you can't really tell from time-keeping alone what signs of strain a watch is under from not being serviced. You only really find out when something more cataclysmic happens, like it stopping completely. A service should sort yours out though. I think I will book mine in...

Re: My 10yo C8 has stopped working.

Has it been serviced previously? I have an 8-year old C8 that hasn't yet been serviced and I've been thinking that it's time to take the plunge rather than wait for anything to happen, so it would be interesting to know if yours managed to go 12 years without a service before anything happened. Nop...

That's very true.. frankly I'd pay whatever it takes to get it running again. And if it goes for another 12 years I'd consider that money well spent 🙌

Thank you, I hope so too. I'd hate for it to be considered a write off but I'm assuming/hoping it will be a fairly straightforward repair.

Re: My 10yo C8 has stopped working.

Just stopped? Just like that!? Oh no! I've got several aging auto watches that are still going strong without a service. I didn't realise they just stopped. I assumed you'd get some warning with other issues. This watch is a beauty by the way! Not one I've seen before. Thank you. And yes, it was ti...

UPDATE: My 10yo C8 has stopped working

Worked perfectly yesterday and was stopped this morning when I went to put it on. It's never gone wrong... until now. Back to CW it goes for a repair. (Actually, thinking about it, it's nearer 12 years old!)

Re: Buying a watch head only

Absolutely I would! Especially with the quick release bracelets that can switch between the C65 cases. Other than my C65 SH21 which I keep on a bracelet in the summer I almost always switch straps and I look increasingly for quick release pins to make the switch easy. So yes, I think it would be a g...

Re: Bremont to open 3 new 'boutiques'...

I think I was surprised by the move to 'high street' but I'm now sold that it's a good move and Birmingham is nearby so I'll be a regular visitor (just to window shop now though!)

Bremont to open 3 new 'boutiques'...

... BUT to be run by Signet owner of Ernst Jones and Hill Samuel. The locations are to be Birmingham Bullring, Cribbs Causeway in Bristol and Bluewater. This has surprised me for a few reasons but mostly that it's Signet who are doing it. Birmingham Bullring is also surprising given it's a 'high st'...

^^^ That's a great reason to have it. I combined Christmas, birthday and 10 year wedding anniversary. It's definitely one to hand down in years to come.
