Re: How often do you look at your movements?

When I saw the title I was rather apprehensive about opening the thread. I thought that I may have wandered into a specialist interest forum on the dark recesses of the internet! Neil Yes, well this may be "Offtopic" but perhaps not quite that far... You did make me laugh ou...

Re: suicidal_orange SOTC April 2022

Interesting collection but it's The Journey that is the real story here and the way that story has been told. Awesome.
I'm a bit late-on looking and commenting but so glad I did.

Re: Stefs SOTC may 22

I must say I never considered a "smart watch" could have so much going for it if that set of functions is useful to you. Not for me but I absolutely get it. The mechanicals do make a very interesting tight mix. A very different style of collection and all power to you! Just great you share...

Re: SOTC josbrownlie - June 2022

Very interesting mix of variety and specialisation (the C9 focus) the likes of which I've not seen elsewhere.
Really enjoyed seeing this, thanks so much for sharing!

How often do you look at your movements?

And I guess, does it depend on which ones? For me it's very rarely and not for very long. I just enjoy that they are there and what they are doing, these wondrous micro-mechanical engines. Perhaps it's that none of mine are particularly spectacular, hand-finished or whatever. I do wonder if somethin...

Re: Has the name of a watch ever convinced you to buy??

the wording above 25 jewels looks like it has been piped by an apprentice pastry chef. ....and now I can't un-see that! :problem: To answer the posed question though, I don't think so as such but gosh I do like just saying the brand name of my Direnzo with suitable Italian accent (I work with a num...

Always a joy, Andrew! This place is as much about its contributors as the watches.

Re: Any classical music fans?

Well first off, John, a HUGE congrats to your son. That is a fantastic achievement. And quite something with an orchestra led by a luminary like Simon Rattle too! That time slot is about 2.30am here... Personally I have VERY wide taste in music, and in the "classical" area I have no real p...

Re: Have a laugh with me, not at me...

Well Lindsey, I've been down a different road but at times felt not so different. Even today I still have to cope at times. It's individual, personal, and so very hard to "share", never mind adequately explain. What I CAN say is that the contribution you make to this virtual place is absol...

Re: Gold watches: enlighten us with your experiences.

I hear you, Des. Yes, it's the bezel that is really why I vacillate on the Santos SO much. However, of all the watches that qualify as genuine icons in this game we play (and there are so many!), it is for sure the one that speaks loudest. No risk there. Of course, similar "scratch magnet"...

I think I'd have to wear gold on bracelet lopsided, they are so freaking heavy.
