Re: The Bargain Hunters Thread

Re the Omega 57 chronographs. When I spoke to them they did say the ones they had on sale were floor samples, so maybe tried on and not stickered, but not pre registered as it were. So only one of each I imagine. The sale listing shows rather more Omega models including over £10k discount from memor...

Re: The Bargain Hunters Thread

Cpocock Re the above Omegas. I phoned them to ask, and they said Omega are moving to selling these watches in boutiques only and therefore the ADs are selling them off. I seriously thought about it. It's 35% off but it's still a lot of money, and it's either put up or shut up at some point. It woul...

Re: What watch was Emma Hayes wearing?

Omegas don't strike me as over elaborate. My vintage just has Geneve on the dial beneath the pinion. My Speedmaster has a subdial there. :) Aqua Terra? Seamaster diver 300? Seamaster planet ocean? Or is it only Rolex dial text you object to… Even though many models (including their top sell...

Re: The Bargain Hunters Thread

I'm not seeing that offer.
I'm seeing some (not all) watches at 15% off, max £300.

Re: The Golf Topic

Slightly more interesting watching golf now. I bet Hovland at 8/1 and a small saver on Rose at 41/1 on the Betfair exchange. Surge from Hovland looks the most likely, I think. :D

Re: Non CW of the Day

The Oris has now been replaced with a Berny, which I think homages an AT Shades.

Re: The Curmudgeons Corner

Another thing. I saw a couple of reviews saying a fifty fathoms had 300 metres water resistance. I checked with BP and it does say 30 bar, or approx 150 fathoms or so.

So should they retire the fifty fathoms designation? :D

Re: What watch was Emma Hayes wearing?

I thought it looked like a Cyclops as well. I don't think it's a Rolex. There doesn't look like there's much text under the pinion. There's normally a book load with the superlative chronometer rubbish Rolex include. Two lines on an Explorer 2 or a DateJust = a “book load”? :) A rather simil...

Re: Strap of the Day

I'm not winding my venerable omega Geneve, which is nearly 50 years old, but the strap is an 18mm CW Cordovan in Honey, which still looks like it did the day it arrived. Thanks CW. :D I don't wear small watches, but I've never felt this old friend looks too small. It's either 34mm or 35mm, I forget ...

Re: Non CW of the Day

Last picture before changing watches. I'll put the yellow strap on when it arrives next week.
I've had it on for 8 days, and it's spot on.

I managed to get the sunray today without too many undesired reflections.
