Would you like to see a NATO option for your CW?

Post by NMS75 »

Just an 'out of interest' thread...

Having read the thread about the C7 on a NATO I was wondering how many forum members would like to see certain CW watches come with a NATO strap option? I see quite a few Rolex Submariners on NATO straps and indeed I wear my MWC Diver on a Bond NATO. Recently I even spoted a Tudor Heritage chronograph (a Rolex brand) in its presentation case and along with its usual metal bracelet was a Tudor supplied NATO style strap - all partof the package. Of course anyone can buy an after-market NATO fairly cheaply and put any watch they like to on it. However, how would members feel about certain CW watches being supplied with an additional colour co-ordinated NATO style strap along with its usual bracelet or leather strap similar to what Tudor has done recently?

No :D

Just not me, as I need my straps / bracelets to be tidy with no loose ends flying about. Also, although I have no sartorial elegance whatsoever, the opportunity to have a piece of a deckchair strapped to my arm just doesn't appeal! Sorry......

Natos are definitely an aftermarket thing - they aren't that popular with the populace at large and those that like them want very specific details (e.g. type of rings, numbers of them, nato or zulu, pvd or brushed or polished, not to mention all of the different colours. Also, they are cheap, so I don't think there'd be that much incentive for CWL to offer them.

No. NATO straps are easily and cheaply available for those who want them, I do own a few. I would rather see CWL concentrate on offering good quality steel bracelets particularly on the divers watches.
No more Quartz (except when I cannot resist).

+1 here! The quality of bracelets must improve first. The current ones are nearly at the level of cheap chinese knockoff!:(

Nato's offered as the package would be wasted money as most people do not appreciate them. They are a marmite strap.

The horror, a good NATO can complement a watch very nicely.
Either in color or design:

But I agree, CW should concentrate on a decent bracelet first.

Have to agree with Mortis on this. Only got into NATO straps after being on the forum for a while. I think must of the watch buying public would not appreciate a strap of nylon fabric on an expensive Swiss watch - even if James Bond did wear one.

That is a bit harsh. I like the bracelet on my C3 and C20 and the ones on the C7 are pretty good. They could be better but they are not that bad.

I don't think that Nato's have a broad enough appeal to be offered as a factory option. I would, however, like to see Chris offer a 'Special Edition', in a new presentation box with 2 straps. I think a diver offered with a bracelet and rubber strap would be a nice set, for example. Can someone say Forum LE?

I like Natos but i don't think there is any need for CW to get into them...they are so easily and cheaply available that it isn't worth their while.
That said,i do think it would be a good move to offer certain watches with an alternative to the big box...say a two watch Banda style case with extra strap (possibly a quality Nato),a spring bar tool and the microfibre cloth.
If you can read this you are too close to your computer screen....
