I was introduced to CW in 2010 by a work friend who is also a watch fanatic. We were discussing the usual suspects, Omega, Rolex, Tag etc. and I said that they were all nice watches but quite pricey. He mentioned that a friend of his had a CW and always received great comments and admiring looks at it and it was really good value. 2 days later I had my first CW! I still wear it most days and still get comments on it. I have bought 1 or 2 since but my first one is still the keeper. Really good quality for a reasonable price and in most cases, not looking to just copy other marques. What more could you want!

Value for money, but also exclusivity for me.

It's all well and good saving up to buy a Rolex or an Omega, but at the end of the day you'll see them on plenty of wrists that don't even understand what a good watch is. CW feels a bit more like a "club" for those in the know. Not just a club for those with a few grand to spare when passing a jewellers window.

For me it has to be the great value for money, followed by their excellent customer service and the 60/60 guarantee.

Also, the fact that CWL is a small British company now manufacturing their own in house movement, makes owning one (or more) of their timepieces something special.

Initially it was because I needed a good watch and found something in the sale (C70 Ad Astra) that I liked and that met my needs. For the price I paid (£125) it was a better watch than I could get anywhere else. Later I got into the 'brand' and the ethos of customer care and not ripping you off. My dream watch was always the Brosnan era Bond Omega Seamaster in blue but at £2700 ish this was probably going to be the stuff of dreams. I don't really like jewellery shops and don't trust them because I think the prices they charge reflect a huge and unjustified margin on their products. The truth is that they charge hundreds or even thousands of pounds for something which has an engineering and production cost content of a mere fraction of that. The whole thing is laced with false value and manned by spivs you can't trust. Buying over the internet suits me fine. I like transparent and realistic pricing and don't like having to haggle with firms to get a fair deal. When I bought a kitchen having dealt with a couple of kitchen firms and their crazy pricing (£22000 for basically a load of MDF which of course has to be haggled down to a more realistic level) I told the lot of them to shove it and went to Ikea who price their excellent quality kitchens realistically and there's no haggling - the price you see is the price you pay and they don't have stupid sales and offers all the time. Far less stress, far cheaper (£4000!) and superb quality.

I really want a mechanical watch and so I have started looking at the V2 Trident which I really like - in fact on looks alone I would say it's probably the equal of the Seamaster.

I like divers watches and to be honest most of the other divers style watches don't really do it for me whereas I think the proportions of both the Seamaster and the C60 are just right.

I'm sure a C60 GMT 600 is going to be purchased this year! I suspect that in engineering terms it's every bit as good as a Seamaster too but 1/3 of the price.

My first CW was a C70 Ad Astra also.
You can't go wrong with a Trident of any era but the 600m is a superb watch which I will get at some point.
