Personally, I don't like white gold. What is the point? To me, I can't ever tell if a watch is white gold versus ss, so why do it? I can see liking a solid gold watch though (but I can't see me paying for one) so the gold doesn't wear off. So I get yellow gold, and I personally like rose gold, but just don't get the point of white gold.
What is it that you like about it? Maybe I am missing something? After all, two years ago I didn't see the point in mechanical/automatic watches, but have changed my tune since then.

I agree Joe for the same reason. I do like Rose Gold though as long as it is subtle and not over done. However I realise that what I like might not be the general concensus so I can give and take. If we all liked the same things then the world would be a boring place but like you for me White Gold is a waste of time. It just looks like Sterling Silver to me.joerattz wrote:Personally, I don't like white gold. What is the point? To me, I can't ever tell if a watch is white gold versus ss, so why do it?

Nope it looks like at best Solid Silver to me.President wrote:Does this look like steel?
Dont take it personal President. Choice is up to the individual. However I will show you exactly why I for one would never buy a white gold watch no matter how rich I was. Take a look at these two pictures of the Breitling Navitimer Heritage.

The one on the left would set me back just under £3k. The one on the right would set me back over £14k. Can you tell the difference because I certainly cannot. So why would I spend a premium of £11k on the White Gold one if only I knew what it was. At least with 18k yellow gold or 18k rose gold then it would look the part.
You understand now ????
Well I hope so because I was teasing. It is actually the one on the left that is the white gold.

Now do you understand ???
P.S. If you think I cheated and just used the same picture for both well feel free to pop along to Breitling and check it out for yourself.

Honestly? It could be plastic for all I can tell in a photo. It looks no more like white gold to me than it does stainless steel, silver, chrome, or any other shiny white metal. Maybe in person it looks different, but in the photo, I couldn't tell. However, when I have seen white gold in jewelery stores, I couldn't tell you whether it was WG or SS.President wrote:Does this look like steel?
Now, the same could be said for gold plated, like the CW gold plated watches, versus solid gold. But, with a plated watch, there is the risk of wearing or scratching through to the base metal, so I can see a point to it.
It is a good looking ring though. So please take no offense. Just for the record, putting it on doesn't turn you invisible does it?

Now, there is the possibility though that they look different in person...but I doubt I could tell the difference.

Is that link wrong, or am I missing a joke? When I go there, it is a picture of actress Kirsten Dunst.President wrote:Those are not decent pictures to tell the difference from.

President delete that link. Its annoying me because it also takes me to a Kirsten Dunst photo with a mini biography. To make matters worse we are being suckered into hitting someone elses page with weblinks designed to make money. If it is nothing to do with you then dont try to hog someone elses bandwidth by trying to share an image. Copy the picture you intend it to be and host it somewhere safe. I am certainly not interested in viewing pages with links to porn sites etc.
It is most certainly not " working for me ".

I removed the link for now. Hans is on vacation and I don't know what his call on this would be. But, it doesn't sound like President meant for the link to link to what it is linking to, so I have removed it.
I always hate it when a link links to inappropriate material without warning, especially if I click it while I am at work. So, to be safe, I removed it.
Sure were a lot of "link"s in this message.
