For starters I’ve changed the strap right out the box - I’m not ready today to tackle the canvas strap into submission.
Tomorrow I’ll take pics of the watch on every 20mm strap I can find. I think the results will be amazing.
First thought was that there’s a lot of lume on this dial and the radium-ness of the lume was really all that caught my eye. If you’re on the fence about vintage lume this is where you make your stand and decide.
Was I sure enough to even take the watch out the box? I wasn’t. For a few minutes. However, I could never judge a watch by looking at it in a box. For me a watch doesn’t exist until it’s on my wrist, warm and ticking and catching the light. Alive.
And this watch does absolutely come alive. It’s very hard for me to capture the way the light catches all the curves, edges, shapes and shards. Even in my fairly dark living room the light is catching on the edges of the hands and the second hand blob while everything else is fading into darkness.
The next thing I really noticed was the quality of the dial. It’s beautiful. Matte. Still picks up ethereal light. This is the dial that’s been in my mind for a while. It changes completely under direct light but maybe this watch is best explored of a clear evening.
Finally for now I’ll mention the logo. It’s a lovely thing, it’s important for the brand. It takes its place well without overwhelming any of the rest of it. My eyes moved over it and settled back to that amazing dial.
And the lume? It doesn’t overwhelm and it pales by comparison once the light starts picking out those polished edges

Photos tomorrow I promise!
