Wow. That was a bit of a whirl...in a good way :D
For starters I’ve changed the strap right out the box - I’m not ready today to tackle the canvas strap into submission.
Tomorrow I’ll take pics of the watch on every 20mm strap I can find. I think the results will be amazing.

First thought was that there’s a lot of lume on this dial and the radium-ness of the lume was really all that caught my eye. If you’re on the fence about vintage lume this is where you make your stand and decide.

Was I sure enough to even take the watch out the box? I wasn’t. For a few minutes. However, I could never judge a watch by looking at it in a box. For me a watch doesn’t exist until it’s on my wrist, warm and ticking and catching the light. Alive.

And this watch does absolutely come alive. It’s very hard for me to capture the way the light catches all the curves, edges, shapes and shards. Even in my fairly dark living room the light is catching on the edges of the hands and the second hand blob while everything else is fading into darkness.

The next thing I really noticed was the quality of the dial. It’s beautiful. Matte. Still picks up ethereal light. This is the dial that’s been in my mind for a while. It changes completely under direct light but maybe this watch is best explored of a clear evening.

Finally for now I’ll mention the logo. It’s a lovely thing, it’s important for the brand. It takes its place well without overwhelming any of the rest of it. My eyes moved over it and settled back to that amazing dial.

And the lume? It doesn’t overwhelm and it pales by comparison once the light starts picking out those polished edges :D

Photos tomorrow I promise!

I adore the White sand dials on the Dune and the Aquitaine.
They just set off the other great details so well.
Enjoy it

Nice one missF!

That was all pretty rapid wasn't it?

Of the set, photo 2 is the one which I like the most, just for the light and the angles across the dial.

Is the canvas strap like the #tide straps, apparently bulletproof in stiffnicity and needing much manipulation?

Please, get the watch outdoors and show it to us in daylight levels from low to bright: I don't think you'll need a lot of persuading hahahaha

I agree about photo 2, but I’m frustrated at how far away my pics get from the actual experience. The macro pic on the CW site is the one to see.

And yes - the canvas strap is bulletproof in stiffnicity  Best description ever! I might take to it with a hammer....

These photos have finally made me interested in this model, not enough to buy it but the white/cream dial does have the warm vintage-ness that I’m attracted to

That pretty much sums up every photo I take of my watches.

Excellent Lindsay, I’m looking forward to seeing your strap experiments tomorrow, I bet you’ll be chuffing at the bits.

Congratulations, looks lovely. Can I ask how you find the legibility, particularly in the artificial light of the evening. Do the polished edges of the hands make it fairly easy to see the time at a quick glance?

I do really like the look of this watch too and that was perhaps my one reservation.

The white sand is my pick of the Dune/Aquitaine dials.

I’ll maybe get back to you on that one once I’ve worn it a few days. I haven’t worn it outside yet. Legibility at night is cool - as I walked through from my kitchen window to the darker lounge it lit up like a Christmas tree, but I’d need to see what that transition time is like

How does to compare to your Sandstorm? I’m pleased that I have one 38mm watch, although it is smaller than my usual preferences. It’s having one of these that is putting me off looking at a Dune.
