Which one do you prefer? C60 Atoll white dial or the Sapphire in blue?

Post by dmcwilliams »

Hello all

I've been looking at CW for some time and having some difficulty in zeroing in on my first purchase. I'm intriqued by the Sapphire in blue or the Atoll in white with the gradient dial. I've also like the C60 Trident 300 with the blue dial and the slimmer case. All of my watches are black dials and am looking for something a bit different. What do you think?

Thanks..Dave

Follow up...do you think the Sapphire in blue is "too out there"? I tend to the more conservative selection in my watches and don'y want to regret my first CW purchase.

From your second post, I’d go with the Trident. I’ve been looking at the blue dial version for a long time. The Atoll looks fabulous, but I have personal concerns about legibility. I have therefore generally steered away from the monochrome look for this reason.

You have some very striking watches in your watch box, and so aside from the fact that they tend towards being from long established and well recognised brands I wouldn't personally call your taste 'conservative'. You did note, though, that most of your watches have black dials, so either of these watches will be striking out in a slightly different direction, and I think you should relish that regardless of what you eventually choose.

My bias and bent is that I don't particularly like blue watches, so my opinion isn't worth much
But - I did own a white shark Atoll for a while and it's not blingy, not shouty, but it is absolutely captivating. The gradient dial is for gazing at. I've seen plenty of blue dials around the place but never a white to grey gradient dial like this one. Case and bezel wow. There's so much lovely detail.

So I'm just adding that into your mix
I sold my Atoll after a while. I sell all my dive watches eventually and should probably conclude that I prefer watches that don't have twisty bezels

Both……. I have the Sapphire orange , which I love, I also really like the Atolls which are a bit slimmer, having said that the Sapphire wears really well not big or clumsy feeling on my 17cm wrist.

Let me throw a left field option out to you.

The C60 #Tide. Same Pro 600 as the C60 Sapphire, so a chunkier case vs the Atoll, but Sapphire dial with stunning wavy lume pattern on it.

Albeit 42mm, so maybe a tad larger than your preference.

Mind you in a straight fight between your two chosen options, I'd go white shark Atoll.

Thanks to all for your input, much enjoyed and informative. Great wrist shots Bahnstormer! Since most of my watches other than my vintage Omega Constellation Pie Pan are black dials, hence my lean toward a white or blue dial. I had not thought about the Tide, but that is an option. I would prefer a slimmer case and the new C60 300 would do the trick. I have my vintage Submariner ref 1680 from 1977, so another black diver is not in the cards. Right now I'm leaning toward the Atoll in white. Question? ...Am I better waiting for a CW sale or trying to pick one up from the web or possibly from another forum member?

Thanks...Dave

If you want one I'd say to just buy one. You won't guarantee to find one in the sales (and if you do you may not be fast enough to secure it - much frustration at sales time...). Keep an eye on eBay and WardHoard if you like. Just know that the Atoll more than represents the RRP

* Edited to add : there's one on eBay at the moment with a starting price of £500. I haven't read the ad so don't know about condition etc

An Atoll reef blue went for 500 the other week on ebay. Try checking other used sites like vinted, usually much cheaper than ebay

I've got the Shark White Atoll 300 and love it. I've found it to suit a wide variety of strap options depending on the mood and setting. Currently got it on a grey/red Marine Nationale strap but I've also had it on orange Sailcloth, black rubber, grey rubber and the excellent bracelet.
