When did they start using an applied logo rather than painted?

Post by Ralphhardwick »

Hi All

Can anyone shed any light on when they first replaced the painted logo with an applied one on the Trident and Sealander?

Thanks

Thanks, I’ve had a good read through, but can’t find any info on the change over.

It was sometime in 2023. The Dune was introduced with the applied logo in January and everything else followed after in stages.

Yup. Apologies.

There's a note for the Sealander in the CWArchive, about moving from the V3 'Christopher Ward' logo to the V4 'Twin Flag' logo in January 2022.

However, nowt about upgrading the V4 logo from painted to applied, which has been done on an ad hoc & rolling basis, with some models yet to be upgraded.

Generally I prefer applied to painted (more depth), so this is good to know.

I look at my Dune and appreciate the bit of a flash as the applied Twin Flags logo catches the light. I also look at my early Aquitaine with the painted logo and don’t mind that it does not have an applied logo. Some details matter but much of the time I don’t notice them. YMMV

Things change over time

It's like bracelet technology changing, with the link fittings changing, the QR bracelet fittings, and the clasp adjustment systems, and the changes being gradually implemented to existing models.
