Re: what was your first "real" watch?
I am taking it to mean getting into watches. When I was younger I had a series of cheap watches. Just needed to tell the time so I thought that there was no need to get an expensive watch. As I grew older I realised that a nicer watch would look better for work.
In 2003 I bought this one. Strange as I already had a watch so didn't need a second one and it was the first time I spent more that £100 on a watch.
I did not know it was a Breitling homage. Just liked the watch. Breitling would come later.
It was 2009 that I bought my first automatic based on the fact that I would never need a battery again. No-one mentioned servicing costs.
This Seapro SX Diver with Miyota movement was the one that really pushed me into more more watches. Especially dive watches.
Later that year I bought a CWL C40 Speedhawk.
The first automatic chronograph, first CWL and first time I had spent more than £500 on a watch. It was a slippery slope after that.

Re: what was your first "real" watch?
My first watch was also a Timex, given to me on my 7th birthday. A few years later my Dad gave me the Lanco that I still have and which has recently rejoined the rotation, so to speak. I had several quartz watches during the early '90s, then, in 1997, I bought my Breitling.
But the watch that set me off on this expensive binge is the Christopher Ward C9 Jumping Hour MkII. That's when I started reading this forum and it's been rapidly downhill ever since.

I had a few Timex as a kid. The first quality watch I bought myself was the Seiko I recently gave away.

I bought this Baume et Mercier with my first salary in 1992... I still own it.
But my first real watch was this solar Pulsar that was given to me for my 17 years birthday... I also still have it

Re: what was your first "real" watch?
i have no idea what my first actual watch was.
i purchased two pilot watches the same day almost 3 yrs ago, a C8 and a maratac mid pilot. the C8 is gone, the maratac still lives on for now.
my first three autos (the C60 was next).

Mine was an Oris Big Crown pilot, over 10 years ago. The pilot style is still my favourite.
Re: what was your first "real" watch?
I consider my Bulova the first watch worth changing the battery on but my C8 MkII vintage in PVD was my first real watch.

Re: what was your first "real" watch?
I always thought my first proper watch was a Baume et mercier dress watch I was given in my early teens. However, when taking it in for a new battery I was informed it was a fake! A few months later I lost it.
So, My first proper real watch Was a Raymond Weil dress watch I purchased in my late teens. I lost that one at Uni so no longer have it.
I am now more careful with my watches.

Re: what was your first "real" watch?
1st real watch was a Seiko from my parents for my 18th birthday; worn most days until my 40th when I added a Maurice Lacroix. The addiction, if that is what it is, didn't really come along until about 12 months ago when I joined the forum, since when I seem to have acquired the need to spend too much time looking at watches, watch web sites and buying watches....

Re: what was your first "real" watch?
My first "real" watch was a TAG Heur 6000 on a steel bracelet.
I P/X it when I bought my Omega Seamaster, should have kept it as I seem to recall the trade in was quite small, and would probably still have it and wear it... That was all before I thought about having multiple watches....

Re: what was your first "real" watch?
If the term "real" means a swiss made watch, this is the first one for me.
Fruggly, unwanted gift (still hating it)
This is my first watch - a "genuine rolex" (or "swatch")

Re: what was your first "real" watch?
Mine was a Swiss Army Delta back in 1996. It was the 1st time I bought a watch that I really wanted and wasn't bothered by the fact I already had a watch! Looking back, I'm not sure what the attraction was, but I still have it.
However, as others above, I pre-date quartz and still have a few mechanical watches from that period - a duo of blue dialled watches made by Cronel and Gisa, of which I definitely bought the Cronel, not sure about the Gisa. I also still have a mechanical Pulsar which my late mother bought me. All three are being shipped to Thailand and it's my intention to, or at least attempt to, restore them to their former glory.
